Description

THE SMALL FACES - "OGDEN'S NUT GONE FLAKE", Immediate Record Co. Ltd. (IMLP 102) MONO, 1968.

This is the ultra rare and musically brilliant Small Faces LP from 1968 - a Pop-Psyche masterpiece. Whilst I could spend many paragraphs waxing lyrical about how good an album this is, I'll try to keep it fairly brief as any serious bidders for this item will no doubt know exactly what it sounds like!!!.

Most importantly this is the original, UK, Mono (much rarer than the Stereo!), first pressing with the four-part, circular fold-out sleeve STILL IN PRISTINE CONDITION!!! Like so many novelty sleeves, these traditionally fell apart just after you got it home from the shops so to find one undamaged like this is truely inbelievable. Add to this that the vinyl is also in near perfect condition and you really do have a once in a lifetime opportunity sitting here. In all my years trading in collectable records I have never seen a record like this and I doubt I ever again!

CONDITION:

VINYL = NEAR MINT (PLAYS PERFECTLY! NO SCRATCHES visible in daylight or under my bright grading lamp. Under that lamp some clean records can show very faint scuffs from sliding the record in and out of the inner sleeve - even these are nigh on non existent on this record. And unlike many contemporary records, this LP sound like it looks - NO intrusive surface noise, no clicks, crackles or distortion from over playing on a cheap system. In actual fact I know the original owner of this record and it has only had relatively few plays on high quality phonographic equipment since the day he bought it. Plays really STRONG as only a good original 1960's mono LP can!)

LABELS = NEAR MINT (Original Immediate Lilac label still has it's strong original colour which can fade quite easily on these original lilac labels. Very minimal spindle trails. No damage or defacing, and both labels still have that slight sheen to them)

SLEEVE = NEAR MINT (This is where this particular copy delivers it's knockout blow. This sleeve is basically as good as you could ever realistically find for an original unless someone out there has an original copy unplayed in a safe! NO CREASES, NO DAMAGE, NO DEFACING, NO RIPS/TEARS, STIIL PERFECTLY FLAT, ALL ORIGINAL COLOURS REMAIN BRIGHT AND PUNCHY and most of ALL FOUR SECTIONS ARE STILL PERFECTLY ATTACHED - SEE PHOTO!!! Much like the vinyl you can distinguish factory fresh from but there are no obvious flaws I can point out either!)

Note: ebay quality control and in particular second hand record grading does seem to have become a highly variable area. I must assure any potential bidders that we are one of the larger secondhand record stores in the country and with decades of experience under our collective belts, we know how to grade records! Please take time to read my descriptions of condition as well as my basic grades. In theory we can send this LP anywhere to anyone for the right price - if you don't see the postal option you need please get in touch a.s.a.p.
