Description

SCAREM - "Feeling Grave"/"Misery"(7" 45 r.p.m. vinyl single private pressing recorded in 1980 and released in 1981 with no label name):  An Ohio hard rock trio that included then-current(guitarist LARRY NOTTINGHAM, who played on MISTREATER's 1980 "Hell's Fire"/"Baby Blue" single, its 1981 "Hell's Fire" LP, its song["Wizard Star"] on the 1984 various-acts "Cleveland's Heavy Metal:  Etched In Steel" LP, and its later "Swami" LP--but oddly enough, not on its song["Without You"] on the 1983 various-acts "Cleveland Metal" LP) and future(the bassist and the drummer on the "Swami" LP) members of MISTREATER.  This 7" has the same sound & production/recording quality as the "Hell's Fire" 7" and LP and also sounds similar stylistically to MISTREATER's early era, so I'm guessing that fans of those recordings will not be disappointed.  The main differences with this SCAREM single are the MUCH greater emphasis on the guitar work and a de-emphasis on lyrics.  Each song is guitar-dominated & guitar-centered and 75%+ instrumental, with a LOT more jam action and only one verse(which is short, with understated vocals) and no refrain.  This same band also released a 7" red-vinyl single in 1981 under the name SCARUM("Night Rider"/"Through The Looking Glass")(look at my other eBay listings--or contact me as specified below--to see all of the records I'm currently offering for sale by the bands I've mentioned here).

After MISTREATER recorded its 7" in '80, & before it recorded the "Hell's Fire" LP in '81, SCAREM returned to the same Indiana studio(700 West) & cut these 2 winners in 1 day in '80, which were recorded & engineered by MO WHITTEMORE, JR.(he engineered or co-engineered the PRIMEVIL, ZERFAS,& "Hell's Fire" LPs at this same studio[& SAILOR also did its LP here]).  The "A" side of this SCAREM single has a :27 ominous-sounding bass-solo intro, then 1:00 guitar/bass combo action into steady, driving hard rock action for the remaining 3:00.  The "B" side has a  ballsy :12 guitar-solo intro into driving, steady hard rock with non-stop guitar action(the last 2:10=dual guitars).

This is a used, original, 1981 U.S. 7" 45 r.p.m. vinyl single private pressing.  According to my grading scale, the disc is graded visually as follows:

DISC:   4

I grade my records in a darkened room illuminated only by a single light bulb inches away from the disc,
which are then very carefully examined & scrutinized from multiple angles in order to best detect any
and all flaws.

Here's my 10-point grading scale, which I use to grade covers(where applicable) & discs VISUALLY and which
shouldn't be confused with or compared to any other grading scale, since I developed it independently of other
grading scales:

1 - A factory-sealed record that has never been opened & never been played. The cover & disc are like new.
2 - A record that was factory-sealed when I opened it to inspect it visually but did not play it. The cover &
disc are like new and unplayed.
3 - The cover & disc are presumed to be unused/unplayed/like new. To clarify, here are some examples(this is
not necessarily a complete listing): In the U.S.A., 7" records were typically not factory-sealed. And of
course, record companies in some other countries typically did not factory-seal their LP's. Also, I stock
records by some U.S. record labels that sell reissues exclusively and do not factory-seal their records.
Also, I was involved with the radio industry for decades, and it was very common for record labels to send
promotional copies of LP's that had not been factory-sealed to radio stations. And, at various times over
the years, I found years-old warehouse stock of quantities of promotional LP's(sometimes, several copies
of the same LP) that probabaly had never been factory-sealed, with vinyl that looked untouched/like new.
4 - Nearly new; the cover and/or disc show only slight signs of use; played very little.
5 - The cover and/or disc are in excellent condition(meaning the exact literal dictionary definition of the
word), and should please everyone except those who want only records that are in new or like-new
condition. The cover and/or disc have little wear; any imperfections should affect the sound quality only
in a minor way.
6 - Played often; visible wear and/or light surface marks or scuffs; maybe a passing bit of insignificant
surface or background noise in spots. The cover looks satisfying, despite some wear.
7 - Obviously played a lot. Surface marks & pops/crackles, and/or light-to-moderate surface or back-ground
noise, which will be heard mainly between songs & during any soft parts; otherwise, the music should be
heard above such defects & the vinyl should play well enough to enjoy, with no major defects(unless you
really dislike such defects). The cover is noticeably worn.
8 - Bad condition; very worn; many heavier scuffs and/or scratches; while the record is playable, pops &
crackles and/or background or surface noise will dominate throughout.
9 - While still playable, the record may be unlistenable(at least if you want to enjoy it at all).
10 - Unplayable. I guarantee that the item is in the condition described in this listing by offering a 100% money-back refund(including all postage costs) if the buyer disagrees. The buyer must contact me within 14 days of receipt of the item & the item must be returned in the same condition. Returns will not be accepted without my prior approval. Because I cannot be responsible for packages that may be damaged or lost by the Post Office(s) after I have mailed them, no refunds will be given for packages that are not insured or registered. That is the buyers' option, and buyers assume the risk and the responsibility for any packages sent that are not insured or registered. I've been selling records by mailorder worldwide since the 1980's, and I willship this record--carefully
packaged in a record mailer with protection inside around the record--worldwide:  $4 for postage & packaging for 1 single(or $4.50 for 2-6 singles)
via Media Mail in the U.S., or $5 via First Class Mail for 1 single. A minimal extra amount will be added for each additional record shipped in
one mailer anywhere in the U.S.   Outside the U.S., I'll ship at cost for postage & packaging, per the buyer's
instructions for any extras(registration, etc):

CANADA:                                 $11 for 1 or 2 singles.

MEXICO:                                  $14 for 1 or 2 singles.

ALL OTHER COUNTRIES:      $15 for 1 or 2 singles.

In any case, tell me your preferred shipping method.  If anyone buys more than one record from my current listings, I will ship the records together in one mailer if I receive all payments within eight days of the end of my earliest auction.  Packages sent to countries other than the U.S.A. may be assessed customs fees by those countries; if you want to know if your country assesses such fees--and if so, what those fees are--contact your country's customs officials.   NOTE:   I travel to the Post Office to ship records only once per week, so packages may not be mailed until the end of the week FOLLOWING the week in which I receive payment, depending on which day of the week I receive payment.

If you'd like to see an all-vinyl list of some of the other 1960's, '70's, & '80's underground hard rock, psych, prog, acid rock, garage/punk, heavy metal, & private pressings I have for sale, contact me.
