Looking In is the sixth album by the band Savoy Brown.Originally known as the Savoy Brown Blues Band, their 1969 single "Train to Nowhere" (with singer Chris Youlden), was viewed by many as the last gasp of the blues scene in Great Britain. Although Savoy Brown never reached much acclaim in their home nation, they developed a loyal core following in the United States, due to songs such as "I'm Tired" (from their album A Step Further), a driving, melodic song. They were one of the bands that UK Decca (US London/Parrot) stuck with through the lean times until they started selling records (it took 4 or 5 albums until they started to sell in the US). In the late 1960s and 1970s, the band managed to penetrate the Billboard Hot 100. Superstardom perpetually evaded them, perhaps in part because of their frequent lineup changes, but despite that, "Hellbound Train" was a big album for them in the US!!!!!.

While the band is still active today, only Kim Simmonds has stayed since the beginning. Guitarist "Lonesome" Dave Peverett, bassist Tone Stevens, and drummer Roger Earle went on to form Foghat. Original member and harmonica player, John O'Leary, is still active on the British blues circuit with The John O'Leary Band. Savoy Brown's first album, Shake Down, featured lead vocalist Bryce Portius. Portius was one of the first black blues musicians to be a part of a British rock band. Another singer, Dave Walker, would later join Fleetwood Mac and Black Sabbath!!!!!!.

Savoy Brown also provided an outlet for the keyboardist and guitarist, Paul Raymond, who later went on to join UFO. Other notable members include Jeff Howell, who went on to play with Foghat and the Outlaws before returning to central New York, where he is considered the best carpet installer in Ithaca!!!!!!.

Savoy Brown contributed the song "A Man Alone" for the soundtrack to the movie Kickboxer 2!!!!!!!!!.

The vinyl

This is the original heavier thicker type of vinyl only found on early pressings!! These have deeper grooves and are more robust than later pressings!!!!

The vinyls playing surface looks near pristine and ON INITIAL INSPECTION i CAN'T SEE A BLEMISH! Any marks that could possibly be seen under a strong light would be sleeve removal marks only!!! I have played this vinyl through track for track on a top system! The audio is awesome!,, cristal clear and vibrant with (no) sighns of distortion or that this has been overplayed at all!!! TOP AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES!  (no) clicks or pops during the audio at all!! Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd light static crackle\tick here and there (not) conssistant theroughout the audio! Remember this is an original 38 year old vinyl that would have been originaly played on a 38 year old system!!!

this has been stored in a case for the best part of 25 years and could benefit from a constant clean before each play! From my experiance this would  reduce any static and greatly improve the audio quality!

TOP! TOP! AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES!!!!

The Labels

These feature the boxed Decca labels (only 1st press)  in superbe condition there are signs of spider marks that can be seen under a strong light but little if no spindle ware (the hole is perfectly round)

The record sleeve

This is the original 'STEREO DECCA'' POLY LINED SLEEVE has no splits or tares becomong fragile with age with light staining\fading. This is stored seperately from the vinyl and cover! The way that i have always stored my records!!!

The cover!

This is the original 1st press UNLAMINATED 'MOORE & MATHEWS LTD' printed gatefold cover (UK COVER) ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO EVER FIND IN GOOD CONDITION LIKE THIS ONE! There are (no) splits or tares and amaiingly hardly any creases worth to mention at all! (very rare to find like this) There is verty light general storageware\rubbing to the edges but i know that the nature of this cover is so very hard to ever find a better copy after 38 years!! THIS COVER IN MY OPINION WILL BE VERY HARD TO SURPASS!!!! ALL IN ALL THIS IS SRONG AND STRAIGHT AS IT SHOULD BE A GREAT EXAMPLE!!! ORIGINAL!!!
