A very unique one of a kind reference acetate disk record that was cut in 1966 to be a radio advertising recording medium to publicize the "Greatest Soul Sessions to hit the city of Los Angeles" in 1966 featuring among others Rosalind Madison, Jimmy McCracklin, Kell Osbourne, Etta James, Vernon and Jewel, The Grand Prix and Stan and the Counts who are all soul music singers or musical groups who recorded soul records in the 1960s that are now highly desirable Northern soul records.
The radio advertisement indicates that this 1966 soul explosion concert occured on Easter Sunday, April 10th 1966. at the International Hotel Ballroom located at 6211 W. Century Blvd in Los Angeles, California.
As you listen to the announcer in this radio ad and enjoy the segments of the Kell Osbourne vocals,I can appreciate the musical and cultural environment that existed in the still largely racially segregated African American communites in 1966 that this music was marketed to.
This is an unusual 8" 45 rpm acetate.
This acetate disk has not come up on the internet before and since each acetate is cut individually, it is unlikely that more than ten of these advertising disks were created. Usually when these kind of disks are discovered they are in terrible condition but this acetate disk is in a strong VG condition.
The shipping cost for this disk will include mandatory insurance.
