Description

It's always a problem grading these lovely old SKA and Reggae records.

They went to lots of parties.

That means that they're a bit battered and that's why many have names written on the label.

HOWEVER... they're usually cut VERY LOUD and though they look a bit rough, they sound OK (especially if you press the "Mono" button).

This means that a 60's Ska goodie can be perfectly acceptable, even if it looks R.A.A.B.B. (Rough As A Bear's Bottom)..

Please “bear” that in mind when reading my descriptions.

Here we have a RARE Coxsone 7" 45 rpm goodie from 1969.

It's "Soul Trombone" by Coxsone's house band The Sound Dimension and "Your Cheating Heart" by Larry And Alvin who are actually Winston Francis and Lloyd Robinson.

The number is CS 7085 and it plays VERY WELL INDEED.

People who break out in a rash when presented with Country Music HAVE NO NEED TO FEAR. The song "Your Cheating Heart" is not the Hank Williams number (although Hank wrote some good stuff).

It's an entirely different toon written by Larry who, as we've already seen, is either Winston Francis or Lloyd Robinson.

Both sides of this splendid single are solid bangers, and the single is cut preposterously L O U D . This means that the few storage marks do not impinge too much on the ear'ole. In fact, with the "mono" button pressed, they largely disappear completely (on my very good gear, anyway).

There is NO WRITING on the label, which is complete and undamaged. It may have been handled with filthy fingers, though.

It would probably benefit from a couple of minutes with an artist's "paper cleaning" eraser.. one of those soft yellowy ones that looks like a sweetie.

The centre, prong fans, is the four-prong-pushout type.

VERY conservative condition grading would be something like a very very strong VG, possibly heading up towards a VG+ or thereabouts.

It's a perfectly OK useful example of a zonking rarity, ideal for DJ-ing to the most discerning audience and it sounds GREAT.

A thieving ratbag in a Record Fair would charge you a fortune for it and claim it was E-.

Mr Fuffy, the one-eyed cat who always photobombs my eBay photo sessions HAS NOT TOUCHED THE RECORD (although he nearly did) and he approves of it, because he likes to Ska El Pussycat.

 am not a dealer.

I am just a very old bloke thinning out his lifetime collection of STUFF before the floor collapses (or I do).

I'm selling most of this stuff for much less

than I paid for it.

What a great business plan (I don't think)!

I am certainly NOT INTERESTED IN PROFIT..

..and indeed, seldom make any!

What little profit I do make goes to help

a very splendid Wildlife Rescue Charity.

The item in the photograph is the item you will get. You won't get Mr Fuffy.

I have described everything to the best of my ability, and it looks in very collectable condition to me.

Please check the photographs to decide for yourself.

NO OVERSEAS bidders please.
