Description
Here is a rare and original 1963 "The Beatles" VJ 498 "Please Please Me" and "Ask Me Why" Vee Jay label 45 RPM record from San Francisco Estate. Very Cool! Made by "Vee Jay", USA. Circa 1963. Number VJ 498. One side is "Please Please Me" No. 63-2967 (also etched 46527 on vinyl), and the other side is "Ask Me Why" No. 63-2968 (also etched 46527-X on vinyl). This fabulous record came in a sleeve that has the following writing on it "630.00/925.00/1963 P/R The Beatles "Please Please Me" / "Ask Me Why", Mint, Plays Good I-II, #VJ.498 Ck.1-1-12". I don't know what all this writing is, but maybe someone will. We found it at an estate sale, it was part of a collector's collection. The label is very colorful with a rainbow of orange, yellow, red, green, and blue border. The logo "VEE JAY" is in a red oval circle. The overall measurement of the record is 7" wide. The condition is "Mint" according to the sleeve, but I see some fine lines - maybe they happened after the writing (see pictures).... so I would say near mint or exceptionally very very good. There are no major scratches, chips, etc. We didn't play it, but the writing says it plays good. We didn't want to disturb anything, so it is exactly how we found it. Sorry, we are not experts.... According to the estate, the estimated value is $1200.00. Our reserve is only $295.00. This wonderful Beatles record came from an estate in San Francisco, and is vintage. It has a great retro look - very modernistic and unique. Pictures don't do it justice. It is truly a quality piece, and would make a wonderful addition to someone's collection. Seller pays shipping. Thank you for bidding.
