Description

THIS AUCTION LOT CONSISTS OF: One scarce original 1951 vinyl "Concert of Cool Jazz" EP of the CECIL YOUNG QUARTET blowing the roof off of Seattle's Metropolitan Theater back in 1951.  The Quartet was Seattle's first important mixed-race bebop jazz unit, and them getting a gig anywhere downtown in those racially segregated days was an historic event on its own. Recorded by a local enthusiast, the tapes were so good that Cincinnati's famous jazz & R&B label, KING RECORDS, stepped in and released the discs nationally. The music is NOT cool jazz, rather red-hot tunes including "Cecil's House Party Blues," "Rushin' On Home," and "Stompin' At The savoy."

CONDITION:  vinyl = still glossy but with some visible scuffs: VG+  / jacket = split at top, original blue tape on spine is aging, original bottom blue taope has been reinforced with cellophane tape, pocked front surface has more wear than the back

GREETINGS: We have been selling records in Goldmine and DISCoveries magazines since the 1980s and on eBay since 2001. To get a sense of our high standards please see our positive FEEDBACK ratings. The age, origin, composition, and condition of items are honestly described from direct observation and handling. Though we do not claim to be experts on every item we list, we do strive for clarity and accuracy, but please e-mail any specific questions or concerns prior to bidding or buying and we will respond promptly. Thank You!

PAYMENT TERMS: USA winners must make payment within 3 days of receiving our emailed Invoice.

SHIPPING & INSURANCE:  [Note: eBay thinks that us sellers can ship a 78rpm disc for $4 and that is their automated estimate noted with this listing.  But that figure is inaccurate. With proper padding and packing for safe shipping, the cost to you will more likely be closer to $6.00.  The winning bidders for our 78rpm auctions understand this situation and accept the fact that we try very hard to keep shipping costs down and then reward us with 5-STAR Positive Feedback. Thanks in advance!] We pride ourselves on offering reasonable shipping fees and providing excellent packing and fast service. All items are carefully prepared for shipping with damage-resistant packaging materials. Insurance is an additional charge and is required on all sales over $50 within the United States. On items under $50, buyer assumes risk if you choose no insurance (which is recommended and available at a reasonable additional cost). We will only ship to the “confirmed address” listed in your PayPal account.

FOREIGN BUYERS:  If you are this auction’s winning bidder, PLEASE DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOU RECEIVE AN INVOICE FROM US: The shipping fee listed here is only an estimate and your actual amount may be more or less than listed. The actual shipping fee will be based on the weight of the item (after its been packaged for safe shipping) the speed of shipment you desire, and distance from us to you. This can only be calculated after we know your Zip Code or Postal Code. We never understate values on Customs Forms. The buyer’s import duties and / or taxes are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to find out what these additional costs might be before you bid or buy. International sales will require – at buyer's choice -- Registered or Insured shipping via USPS.

HAPPY BIDDING & GOOD LUCK!
