Items in this lot are:
  •
  • Criss-Cross -- Label:  Columbia -- Record#: CL 2038 mono 2-eye

Special note to foreign bidders: PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING!! IN PURCHASING THIS ITEM, YOU ARE AGREEING THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON ON FOREIGN SHIPMENTS. In order for me to ship out of the U.S., it is much more effort and expense.

Because of this, I do not ship to foreign buyers if the value of the item is less than $20. For items $20-$50, I can ship First class International to buyers with perfect feedback. This method is NOT insurable or trackable, but costs less. Weight must be less than 4 pounds. For items $50-$100, I would ship via priority mail international with insurance for the value bid. Some countries do not allow insurance. Please e-mail for shipping costs before bidding as this method costs more, but is insurable (usually) and trackable. For items > $100, it will have to go some method that can be signed for. Global Express, probably, it is expensive!

Examples of shipping as of 2/22/18(to the U.K.):

  1. 9 ounces - $23.50 (first class international) + cost of box
  2. 9 ounces - $35.25 (Priority Mail International) + cost of box
  3. 9 ounces - > $50 (Global Express) + cost of box

Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. I declare foreign shipments as merchandise with the value you bid for them.

END NOTE TO FOREIGN BUYERS.

Feedback/bidding policy:   I check feedback daily and will return feedback promptly. Although I go to great lengths to accurately describe my items, if you feel the merchandise is not as described, e-mail me BEFORE leaving feedback and we will resolve it.  Please note I do allow returns (see return policy below).

Description: Up for your consideration is the next in a series of unique Lps, this one by Thelonious Monk.

A few unique things about this item:
Firstly, this record retains the original shine with no visible imperfections  grading by sight in normal room light.  I'm sure if you took this and put it under a 1000 watt bulb, you'd probably find something that makes it less than mint.  If you're that kind of collector, let me suggest this auction is not for you.

I don't claim this record is mint.  I took the time to play it and noted only a very, very light surface noise on most tracks, perhaps a couple very light muffled pops on the last track of side 1.  Frankly, it plays very well overall.  You can assign your own grade based on my comments on what I heard and the GRADING SCALE BELOW!.

Keep in mind how it plays for me may differ than how it plays for you based on differences in audio equipment.

So this is your chance to own a unique item at a reasonable price.  Bid early and often so you don't miss out on this auction!

It is further described below, please take the time to read before bidding.

Please e-mail if questions.

Be sure to check my other listings to save postage on multiple winning bids.  Please explore the "me" link next to feedback rating) to check out my store and some of the 15,000+ records I have for sale as well as the LP to CD transfer service I offer.

I am using the Goldmine scale of G=Good(1), VG = Very Good(2), VG+ = Very Good Plus(excellent)(3), NM = Near Mint(4) when grading the disc(s).

Here is a summary of the record(s):

Artist:Thelonious Monk Title:Criss-Cross Record:Black vinyl with original shine and no visible imperfections  grading by sight in normal room light. Labels:Red with black print, two-eye white + white Columbia.  No stickers, no pen/pencil marks, a few spindle marks. Trailing wax:Side 1: "XMP-59556-2F".  Side 2: "XLP 59557 -2K" Inner sleeve(s):A clear, plastic sleeve rounded on one edge. Cover:Still in shrink wrap.  Shrink wrap missing  back left 1/4.  No stickers. There is a small magic marker circle on the shrink wrap back upper left, NOT on the cover.  No other pen/pencil marks, no seam splits.    Slight wear to other corners. Rate the cover VG+(excellent).  You can assign your own grade based on my comments. Comments:I took the time to play it and noted only a very, very light surface noise on most tracks, perhaps a couple very light muffled pops on the last track of side 1.  Frankly, it plays very well overall.  You can assign your own grade based on my comments and the scale shown below.  A good addition to your LP collection.   Side 1:Comments: HackensackUp to a very, very light surface noise (3.6) Tea for twoUp to a very, very light surface noise (3.6) Criss CrossI couldn't hear anything wrong ! (4.0) EronelPerhaps a few very light muffled pops (3.4) Side 2: Comments: Rhythm-a-ningUp to a very, very light surface noise (3.6) Don't blame meUp to a very, very light to very light surface noise (3.5) Think of oneUp to a very, very light surface noise (3.6) Crepuscule with NellieUp to a very, very light surface noise (3.6)

Additional criteria I use when audibly grading records for people:

  • NM(4) = absolutely nothing wrong at all (very rarely happens--I've even opened sealed records and they don't play Near Mint)
  • 3.5-3.9 = very, very light surface noise
  • 3.1-3.4 = very light surface noise, very light pops
  • VG+(3) = up to light pops and light surface noise (below this, one's enjoyment is affected, very subjective)
  • VG(2) = up to medium pops and moderate surface noise
  • G(1) = up to heavy pops and heavy surface noise

I normally ship a single record in a standard 12.5 x 12.5 x 1 record mailer.  Weight with box is 1 pound 1 ounces. Shipping is $3.17 Media Rate (1-2 pounds) + $1.20 box/tape/pack + $.50 handling = $4.87.
Alternatively, I can ship in a  14 x 14 x 6" box. Weight with box is about 1 pound 11 oz. Shipping is $3.17 Media Rate (1-2 pounds) + $1.70 box/tape/packing + $.50 handling = $5.37.

This auction is currently set to ship in the smaller box.  If you want the larger box, let me know and I'll send an appropriate invoice.

Buyer pays shipping/handling. Standard method within U.S. is Media Rate, $4.00 This includes online tracking. Outside U.S., e-mail location to determine S/H costs prior to auction end. Insurance / other methods of shipping cost extra. Payment received within ten days of auction ending. Payment via Paypal preferred.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck with the bidding!
