Description
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon.
I am pleased to offer for sale this archival quality, final upgrade example of the Pink Floyd's eighth studio album.
The record is a UK first pressing with the highly prized solid blue triangle Harvest labels.
This is a record that I love listening to and in my opinion the A2 / B2 pressing is by far THE pressing to get to listen to. It is brilliant; exceptional; fantastic. If you haven't heard one, you should. The audio on this particular record is absolutely fantastic. There are details that emerge in the music that are rarely heard. Take a listen yourself below!
Album Details:
Serial number: SHVL 804
Matrix number: A 2 / B 2
Stamper codes: 2 MO / 3 RR
Vinyl Weight: 170g
The matrix numbers identify the record as a true UK first pressing.
The vinyl is housed within the original 'midnight blue' tinged black gatefold sleeve. This copy is extremely rare in that it is without the DSOTM sticker to the front side. Contrary to common belief, this was placed on later copies in response to retailers complaining that customers did not know which album was the new Pink Floyd release that they had come to buy!
The album is complete with all original inners; both posters, both stickers and the original black, die-cut, 'patents pending' inner sleeve.
Condition:
The condition report provided below is given as a guide only. I include high-quality, comprehensive photographs as well as a complete audio recording in my listings to enable you to make an informed decision on the condition of this record yourself.
Vinyl: EXCELLENT
Labels: EXCELLENT
The labels are bright and clean. Only minor spindle wear is evident on either side.
Visual: EXCELLENT
The vinyl surface displace superb deep-gloss playing surfaces. In bright daylight one or two short and light marks from 'stylus skates' are visible. Underneath the haze of a halogen desk lamp a number of hairline paper scuffs can be seen alongside an iridescent rainbow shine.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT
Please use the eBay internet site to enjoy the audio files. The eBay app does not facilitate playback.
Side 1:
Side 2:
As can be heard in the audio clips, the heavy-weight vinyl sounds superb. The lead-ins are quiet and there is minimal static throughout. The record plays with the distinction one might expect from the A2/B2 pressing. The bass is punchy, the vocals are crisp and clear and the instrumentation is well defined. It's great, really great.
Please note, there is no skip on Money.
Sleeve: VERY GOOD +
The sleeve looks great. All four sides retain bright colours with no sign of discolouration or fading. The front side has the residue from the removal of a sticker. The corners are strong with just subtle softening. The spine is without wear. The top and bottom edges show subtle rubbing. Not perfect, but a genuine original example that has been with this record since day one.
Inners: EXCELLENT
The original inner sleeve is in great condition. The polythene insert has come unstuck from one side. Both posters and pictures are in fantastic condition.
Additional Details:
Before the audio test, the vinyl was cleaned first by an Okki Nokki vacuum cleaner (using L'art du Son cleaning solution) and then an Audio Desk ultrasonic cleaner.
After cleaning, the vinyl is housed inside a brand new mobile fidelity audiophile quality, anti-static inner sleeve.
The vinyl will be packaged outside of the sleeve. The album is stored inside an archival quality polypropylene outer sleeve.
The album will be sent via an insured courier in a padded vinyl mailer.
