Description

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon.

This exceptional copy of the Pink Floyd's eighth studio album is a UK first pressing with the highly prized solid blue triangle Harvest labels.
The sleeve is the original 'midnight blue' tinged black gatefold sleeve. This copy is extremely rare in that it is without the DSOTM sticker to the front side. Contrary to common belief, this was placed on later copies in response to retailers complaining that customers could not find the new Pink Floyd record as it was without any band information!
The record is a true first pressing identifiable by the A2 / B2 matrix numbers. The mother codes (1 / 2) suggest that the record was pressed by the first & second mother plates. Consequently, playback is simply superb!  I've taken a recording of this copy, available below, for you to listen to before you decide to purchase.
The album is complete with all original inners; both posters, both stickers, and the original black, die-cut, 'patents pending' inner sleeve.
This is a record that I love listening to and in my opinion the A2 / B2 pressing is by far THE premier pressing to listen to. If you haven't heard one, you should. Whilst my recording is representative of the audio quality it by no means replaces hearing the record on your own system. Turn the lights off, the music up and enjoy!
Serial number: SHVL 804
Matrix number: A 2 / B 2
Stamper codes: 1 GH / 2 PL
Vinyl Weight: 170g

Condition:
Vinyl: EXCELLENT +
Labels: EXCELLENT +
The labels are bright and clean. No spindle marks can be seen on either side.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
The record displays superb deep-gloss playing surfaces. In bright daylight a non-feel-able stylus skate is visible to side 2. Underneath the glare of a halogen desk lamp a number of wispy hairlines can be seen alongside a sparkling rainbow shine.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT / MINT -
The heavy-weight vinyl sounds superb. Take a listen for yourself:
Please note: the eBay app does not support playback. Please use the internet site to enjoy the recordings.
Side 1:

Side 2:

I don't usually split gradings per side but in this case I feel it appropriate. Side 2 plays a comfortable Mint-. (The crackle at the end is due to a fibre on the stylus). It is simply beautiful! Side 1 is a strong EX. If not for several pops during the quiet passages between songs 2 and 3 and 3 and 4 I would also grade as Mint-. I cannot see any obvious marks that would cause these pops but the grooves are very tightly spaced and it they are extremely quiet passages. My guess is a stylus has been dropped onto the wax at some point. The bass is punchy, the vocals are crisp and clear and the instrumentation is well defined. It's great, really great.
There is no skip on 'Money'.
Sleeve: VERY GOOD +
The iconic sleeve looks great. As is often the case with these early non-laminated sleeves, both the front and rear show subtle signs of rubbing wear. The corners are strong with just subtle softening. The spine is without wear. The top and bottom edges show subtle rubbing. Not perfect by any stretch, but a genuine sleeve that has been with this record since day one.
Inners: EXCELLENT +
The original inner sleeve is in great condition. Both posters and pictures are in fantastic condition. The vinyl is housed inside an audiophile quality, anti-static inner sleeve to help protect and preserve the record and inner sleeve.

The record will be sent via an insured courier in a padded vinyl mailer.
