On February 27, 1973, the Dark Side of the Moon album was presented to the public for the first time at a 
press presentation that took place at The London Planetarium. Members of the press who attended this 
presentation were given a copy of the LP (matrix: SHVL 804 A-2 G 1 / SHVL 804 B-2 G 1). These pre-date 
the released copies and very rarely come up for sale, the released solid prism copy being relatively 
common by comparison. There were only a couple of hundred in circulation in 1973, the amount of clean 
copies some fifty years on must be tiny.

Hopefully you can see from all the photos that the cover is clean for the most part, with the odd wear on 
the spines as illustrated. The advance press launch copies did not include the poster and sticker inserts. 
The labels show a few spindle marks, so it's been played a few times. Generally the vinyl looks extremely 
clean, with one very light inaudible mark on side two, across some of tracks 1 & 2. Otherwise very clean, 
not overplayed, glossy and bright.

I'm listening to it as I write this, on pretty sensitive equipment. The very quiet start of side one is 
accompanied by some light  background, the odd light tick, as are the last thirty seconds or so of the A-
side.  When the first  track kicks in there's virtually  nothing to distract the ear, even  in the quieter passages 
that  follow. As for side two, some of  the initial A2/B2 matrix  pressings were  known to heve a pressing fault 
on  the track  "Money", this one  plays perfectly. Again, very light static sounding background  at  the 
beginning of the side, and at the start of Us & Them, but really not too obtrusive. Nothing to report 
as the side plays on, it sounds wonderful.

As you'll probably be aware, the listening pleasure from a first pressing of this album is in a different 
league to the later represses, punchy and crisp. I can't claim this one is mint, but it's not far off it, the vast 
majority of both sides play with no noticable background of any sort, there's no major ticks, pops, crackle 
and most certainly no skips at any point. I'm sure whoever is lucky enough to own this one will be pleased 
with it, and will own something only a handful of others have. If your pocket doesn't stretch to this one, at 
the time of writing I have another solid prism on sale, and a quad copy, both of which are considerably 
less  expensive. Some great titles going in the ebay shop over the next few days and weeks, keep looking.
