Title:Journey Through The Past- Original Soundtrack Recording
Label: Reprise Records 2XS 6480, 1972
No Drill Holes, No Cuts , No Barcodes,
Journey Through the Past is a soundtrack album by Neil Young. Released in December 1972, the album features music also by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Buffalo Springfield, The Stray Gators, The Tony & Susan Alamo Christian Foundation Orchestra & Chorus and The Beach Boys. It is the soundtrack for the film of the same name.

"For What It's Worth / Mr. Soul" - Sourced from studio tapes and mimed to on the television show "The Hollywood Palace" on January 20th, 1967 (this is the only release of a rare alternate version of Mr. Soul).

"Rock & Roll Woman" - Taken from the Ed Sullivan Show in 1967 with Buffalo Springfield,

"Find the Cost of Freedom", "Ohio" and "Southern Man" - recorded during a CSNY concert at the Fillmore East on June 5, 1970

"Are You Ready For The Country ", "Alabama" and "Words" - alternate takes from the Harvest sessions, recorded on September 26 and 27, 1971 at Neil's ranch. "Alabama" includes some remarkable conversations between Neil Young, Stephen Stills and David Crosby as they were working out the vocals on the track.

"Handel's Messiah" and "King of Kings" - performed by the Tony & Susan Alamo Christian Foundation Orchestra & Chorus and recorded on February 10, 1972

"Soldier" - was the only new original song by Neil Young on this compilation, and would later reappear in edited form on the Decade compilation. Recorded in a sawmill to the accompaniment of a roaring fire from a sawdust burner.

"Let's Go Away for Awhile" - taken from the Beach Boys'album Pet Sounds.
