NICK DRAKE

"Five Leaves Left"

This ultra rare UK 1st pressing of Nick Drake's 'Five Leaves Left' released in 1969 by Island on the pink and black block label.

This album, like so many other classics was often doomed to bargin-bins, often with large damaging stickers applied as the lack of interest at the time took its toll. Now there simply not enough around to meet the ever increasing demand, many collectors now have to rely on reissues, and this man’s work as always been ‘in-print.’ How times and opinions change: for many, now the Holy Grail of folk albums, its status amongst the ‘Greats’ is undiminished and is actually elevating for every year as it ages. A most-prize item for the discerning record collector. Finding one in really lovely condition is a major task as fewer and fewer are made available, most of the better examples locked away in valuable collectors, rarely do they surface to be offered. This is a rare opportunity to own a really fine example of this Nick Drake debut.

Cat No: Island, ILPS-9105

Matrix Number: ILPS 9105 A//2 1 1 and ILPS 9105 B//2 1 1 [machine stamped] [earliest ever, see pictures]

Condition:

Label: There is no writing on either side of the label. No marks and minimal spindle wear.

Vinyl: (EX++) Both sides of this fantastic album still show a deep black shine.  There are NO nasty markes or scratches.  I have played this album and it sounds great. The album comes with the original Island inner sleeve.  I am tempted to rate this as a near mint copy, definitely a copy to add to your collection!!

Record Cover: (EX) Gatefold.  Although not mint, it is still in superb condition - it is very flat and square and still firm.  The edges show very modest wear basically minimal wear and NO splits.  There is no unwanted writing, no feathering on the opening side, no stickers and no staining.  The spine is very square.  All in all, this is a wonderful condition for its age.  The sleeve and cover were originally printed in England.

GRADING IS DONE USING THE "RECORD COLLECTOR'S GRADING SYSTEM"

Postage:

I will mail this record worldwide.  The vinyl will be removed from the inner sleeve to prevent seam splitting (kniving) during transit.  I will pack the record in a custom made record mailer with 25mm polystyrene side to protect the item against breakage.  P&P will be £16-00.  I do offer combined shipping to reduce shipping fees.  Please wait for the invoice before payment is made. If you are not willing to pay the postage fee, please do not bid.

South Africa had a postal strike for almost 4 months.  Everything seems to be back on track.  The postage of £16 is SA Post Office rates.  Should you prefer to use an alternative delivery option, I have used Aramex in the past.  Parcels are delivered within 10 working days.  I need to confirm postage via Aramex (destination dependant).  An estimated courier fee is £30.

Should you wish not to have the parcel tracked and insured, I could not be held responsible for any loss or damage in transit.

The £7-00 postage fee as set by Ebay is not applicable as this record will be mailed from South Africa.

Thank you and good luck!!!
