Description
For sale is Mile's Davis Kind of Blue. It was re-issued in 1995 by Classic Records on two Audiophile grade discs. This two LP set provides an authentic reissue of the world's most famous jazz record, and it corrects a mechanical problem that occurred during the recording process. It has been determined by Sony engineers that the tape machine used to produce Side One of the original record in 1959 was running about 1 1/4 percent too slow during the recording session. When the tape was played back at 15 inches-per-second for the transfer to the production master, the pitch was too fast. Side One of this set presents Kind of Blue as we always known it. Side Three presents the first three songs at the correct pitch for the first time ever on LP. As a special bonus, Side Four presents an alternate take of "Flamenco Sketches" transferred at 45 RPM to increase playback fidelity. I bought this record new at the Stereophile Show in New York at the famous Waldorf-Astoria in 1996, played it once, and then put it away until today. There just a hint of shelf wear, but the record is Near Mint. I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
