Description

Customers: please be aware that any purchases made from my listings between July 4th and July 17th will ship on Saturday, July 18th.  I will be on vacation during these dates and won't be able to fill orders during that time.  Thanks for your understanding!  Shipping continues to be included in the purchase price of each of my listings until further notice.

As a fresh rarity to post, I present a nearly flawless copy of Miles Davis's unusual Aura double album for your bidding pleasure.  Recorded early in 1985 but not released until September 1989, this lengthy exploration of tone and colour in jazz fits with the hallmarks of Davis's experimentations with his muse in the 1980s, combining odd metres, dissonance, synthesizers, guitar, and a large band backing with Davis's trademark vibrato-less playing.  Conceived by Danish artist Palle Mikkelborg, Aura names its tracks after the colours of the visible spectrum and provides a diverse, if sometimes jarring, listening experience.

This album includes NM vinyl and a VG++ jacket.  Both records have been viewed and playgraded and are free from any visible and audible defects; for me, they performed as close to perfect as I've ever heard from vinyl LPs.  The jacket has some miniscule wear to the cover and one corner; apart from this, it would be absolutely flawless.  The original innersleeves are included; one has some minor seam splits in two places from contact with the record's edge, but both otherwise look fresh.  Due to the high value of this album, I will include insurance with your order during shipping at no extra cost to you.  Be sure to check out my other jazz and big band listings, including Benny Goodman and the White Cliffs of Dover collection, and happy bidding!

"Quality items at reasonable prices from an eccentric merchant!"

As a math teacher and long-time record buyer with a definite passion for both vocations, I am excited to continue to make available LPs I have collected over the last fourteen years but now need to winnow from my shelves.  The items I will be posting include quite a range of genres and interests – soundtracks, specialty records, and albums ranging from the typical mainstream to the unexpectedly weird.  Check back often to see what surprises I’ve got in store!

Please note my conditions of sale:

-I use Goldmine standards to rate my albums, and I seek to do so conservatively.  Items will often receive both a visual check and a playgrade, so that I can review the material one last time and also listen for any differences between audible quality and my visual perception of an album's surface.  If there are any potential flaws in an item, I will make sure you know about those upfront.  As a rule, I will not attempt to sell records that rate below VG for the total package (unless the item in question is rare or hard to come by).  Because I deal largely in used stock and will be thorough in explaining an item's condition, please note that all sales are "as is" and final – returns are not accepted.

-I ship through USPS services to destinations in the U.S. only. All records will be packed sturdily with quality outer cardboard, with records and innersleeves removed from jackets to avoid seam splits on used items.  Because of the demands of my work schedule, all shipping will go out twice a week, by Wednesday (if an album was purchased the previous weekend) and by Saturday (for all later purchases or payments).

-I will accept payments for items through PayPal only. If you win one or more of my auctions, please make sure items are paid for within 7 days of the listing's end.  Please note that I open failure-to-pay cases against those who do not pay or make any attempt to communicate with me within my stated timeframe.  Please do not bid or commit to buy if you don't intend to follow through with a payment.

-Shipping will be at cost to the buyer, through Media Mail.  I charge a starting fee of $3.17 for one album, then 50 cents per each additional LP in your order.

-I will always be willing to combine shipping on multiple wins/purchases.  Just make sure to request an invoice prior to completing your purchase.

-The bottom line: I will make every attempt to insure your satisfaction as my customer.  Let me know of any problems prior to posting negative or neutral feedback, as this will help me to refine my services and better serve my fellow record collectors out there.  Enjoy!
