Description

MISFITS Horror Business 7"-- yellow c/v, with insert (see scans).
  record: a legit VG+
   picture sleeve and insert:  also a vg+, that's almost a vg++
(see the GRADING INFO section below, plus scan #6)

(note:  i am the 'original owner,' and probably bought it (new) in 1980 (or 1981) at this odd, off-the-wall Culver City record store that had LOTS (of anyone's 1981 american punk rock 7" want list, esp. west coast issues, i.e. in my case a "Dangerhouse 45s checklist" that had three or four missing, and the store courteously filled them all out of a sub-shelf's rack that had "LA stuff plus lots of crummy new wave you probably want to destroy") -- and i later moved the Misfits 7" to a "brand new, untouched" plastic sleeve (since the 'price tag' on the store's original plastic sleeve, long gone)

========ATTN ANYONE WHO NEEDS AN orig 1st pressing Misfits BULLET 7" in black vinyl, with vg++ sleeve and insert =============== we briefly interrupt this description (below) of the methodical 'grading process' of the Horror 5, to being you info that might be important for anyone who needs to fill an "original pressing / BULLET 7" (black vinyl) gap in their Misfits 7" checklist.  or vice versa, massively UPgrade from a lesser condition copy, whatever, ok  ====================

<< NOTE: i will be posting (selling) a BULLET 7" 1st pressing (black vinyl, w/insert) ten days from now on Ebay, after this 45 has gone to a better home.  IF there is any particular "ending time" between 5pm and 9pm (on the sunday afternoon or evening of , and please specify your time zone, whether est / cst / mtn time / pst) that works best for anyone out there, just let me know, ok?).  I would be posting the Bullet 7" up on a thursday, as a 10 day post, just like this one.  (it will be graded just like this one, in the interest of 'proper playtesting."

================

Horror Business orig 1st pressing YELLOW c/v, with insert

check, check, double check.  i bought it a year or two after it (an unsold retail copy) had been sitting the racks waiting for adoption.  it's an original (pressing) and its one "playtesting" tic (below) might be from the pressing itself.

GRADING INFO (viz real time PLAYTESTING) --

RECORD:  a legit VG+ ?  here was the playtesting method, in real time yesterday 5/13/20:  i stood right next to the chest-high 'top speakers' (old 'bookshelf' Sonys, used as giant "tweeters" on top of a pair of giant Altecs that were donated to us cheap by the old Salvation Army store in livermore several decades ago.  the workhorse Technics SL-1700 turntable (direct drive, with an Empire cartridge) has a needle that's almost brand new, so all "testing setup" tools looked good.  (i had a page of notebook paper on a clipboard, felt pen in the left, and a battery-powered alarm clock sitting right beside the turntable, so's to identify THE EXACT SECOND anything fishy was heard on the speakers ten inches away.  pops, "tics," surface noise, etc.

result:  (see scan #6):  ONE quick 'POP' right around the 0:22 mark.  it's right during the line "the BATH ROOM, with me" and the pop hits RIGHT between the two syllables -- "bath" (pop) "room, with me" and dang if it isn't right on the back beat.  volume of the pop:  a little less than the vocal it's trying to sing along with, for its micro-second.
and there's a really tiny 'pop' that might or might not be happening around the 0:62 second mark.  (with no vocals anywhere in sight).
otherwise:  nothing at all during the rest of the three songs.  it gets a "passing grade"!  (if the 0:22's definite 'pop' hadn't happened i would be writing "possible EX cond?" after the 45/ep had finished, i double-checked the definitely 0:22 'pop,' and it definitely is there.  and definitely right on the beat, musically a non-obtrusive condition glitch.

PICTURE SLEEVE CONDITION:  somewhere between Vg++ and Ex, i would say.  with NO "ring wear."  just slight (indentations into the p/s's front side?), along 2" of the 45's NW (northwest) and also 2" of its NE (northeast) sections (only) (you can see a tiny bit of it on the scan's NE side, over to the right of the 'HORROR' lettering), and which i bet happened during the distributor's shipping.  (none of my 45s with p/s have ever ever, like never been stored in a "pile," since i graduated from college (twice) and if i learned nothing else, that crime is definitely in the Top 10 Things To Never Do.

ADHESIVE:  the picture sleeve is still solidly glued together on all four corners, plus the entire left side.   There is no bleed of the p/s front cover's "red ink" (the word HORROR) into the back, whatever that counts or doesn't count for, although you can see (the red) from the inside (reverse of front), since this is a standard-in-its-time, fairly thin (glossy) p/s.  you could definitely get the right side's "middle section" glued back with a tiny bit of gluestick adhesive put onto a nail file.  but nah, i have no idea where the "original parts" of the glue in that location went to (or never were there in the first place).  THERE IS NO "discoloration" ON THE P/S's BACK SIDE, although the vagarities of the 'computer scan' looks a little suspicious up around the p/s back side's top right -- nah, that's just air leaking through.

JUST TO DO IT, ALSO SEE (scans #7, 8, 9, and 10) all four "corners" zoomed in, as if it were a T52 mantle high-# rookie card instead of just a bunch of first-rate 1979 punk rock noise -- like this --

ok, since i loove my HP 3512 "scanner/printer/xerox" gizmo's scan functoni (it's fast and simple), i will add a "crop of the full scan" for each of the p/s's front corners.
anyone who accumulates (or collects.  i do the former, and in accordance with all "no plastic sheets for these here pieces of cardboard! they were meant to be 'played with' and dinged and danged a little bit) have always kept my VG/VG+ sets (or near-sets) of mid/late-50's and early 60's Topps bb cards in (shiny, as good-as-new Dutch Masters or King Edward) cigar boxes, since if you can't 'flip through them' then what was the point of buying them back then in the first place?  (if this Misfits 45 was a T54 Hank Aaron rookie card being graded, one top corner would be graded as "sharp," and the other three show "slight wear" and really whack the card's grade.  although in "records world" it's more or less a VG++ if i remember how these things go).  THE CARDS MENTIONED ARE HIDDEN SUPER CRAZY in the dark crevices out and around our punk rock mansion HQ, so don't dare think of breaking in to try and confiscate the near-set of B53 color, since the outdoor/indoor tabby cat (and his entourage of one or two, depending upon the day of the week) would have the po-po up your ass if one of my "29 inch metal baseball bats" which are stored in plain sight near every single entrance or inside doorway -- yep, the $3.98 (per bat) LETHAL HOME SECURITY SYSTEM.  when combined with a "Big 5 Sporting Goods PLASTIC GYM TEACHER WHISTLE," don't even think about it.  metal vs bone, ear-splitting JV football coach whistle vs the naked ear.  we don't aim to kill (any intruder trying to jack my rookies in the T54 set, aka Aaron and Kaline and somebody i can't remember), i'll just do a "metal vs bone" tutorial for fun on them or any other intruder.  (spoiler:  the metal baseball bat wins every time, when seeded against a 16th seed "average kneecap bone")

POSTAGE:  $3 media mail, or i'll cover the extra $5 for 1st class/priority mail, whatever.  or i'll have Bill Graham fly it out personally in his helicopter hahahaha.  since this is an important record in the history of Misfits discogs, i'll pack (in a 45s cardboard mailer) / then double-pack it (into a slightly larger hard-cardboard box or album record mailer) and then, what the hell, triple-pack it.   I CAN SHIP INTERNATIONAL, ok.

FOOTNOTE TO THE REQUESTS THAT ARE ABOUT TO COME IN WHEN I OPEN UP THE grand funk railroad fan club HOTLINE --
sorry, i am all out of "autographed Danzig basketballs," i am also all out of "Jerry Only signed vintage nerf-footballs," or any random equipment destroyed in that infamous Misfits 1981 "stage/audience riot in san franciso."  (i wasn't there, but the beyond-stupidity began with the always-beyond-stupid (promoter) "Paul Rat" selling beer in CANS (or was it bottles?  uh -- checking -- yeah, cans.  like o m g, seriously).  jeez, what a head scratcher...wait, let me take a poll of the mentally challenged who are suffering from speedmetal slampit cranium damage...so, like....what? could possibly "go wrong"? with selling BEER IN f'n CANS!!?!! at a medium-large 1981 west coast 'hardcore punk' gig in (i already said 1981? in san francisco? yeah, ok, i did) san francisco.  obviously nothing, nothing to see, just some kid's skull bloodied with a bass guitar's butt-end and general chaos shutting the gig down.  (in the early and mid-70's, charming midwest towns like Toledo were infamous for having one or two audience members sail M-80's -- repeat, M fucking 80's -- at the basketball arena stage at an Aerosmith or Alice Cooper concert (pick one, pick either), so obviously progress was not made between "70's hard rock or early heavy metal" (zeppelin, black sabbath, grand funk railroad, deep purple blue oyster cult and a handful more gold-album loud-as-fuck popular live acts of the time, i.e. the soundtrack of yours truly's college years, Led Zep /#1 right through the awfu Led Zep #5 aka "outhouses of the holy" and man did it sound like it)."

anyway i wasn't there at the SF Misfits gig, so i'm just speaking out of my ass.  HOWever, for the benefit of "fact checking" points (i.e., no bonus points, just minimizing the demerits that will be assigned for talking out of my bunghole, instead of through the beany-and-cecil twirly copter that came out of the womb with me, attached to my beautiful arkansas head) i will google-see-looky-loo for the "best first person description" of the melee in question (and cut/paste it to the bottom, below, if it is an html file that can be cut/pasted).  i wasn't there so, ok whatever.
although i was there at their On Broadway/SF Mab (upstairs from the Mab) gig (the season before) and got into a semi-incoherent argument (with jeff bale of MRR and two other random strangers w/jeff that i'd never met then or later) over the musical skills of said three Misfits guys holding instruments.  (i'm a bobby steele lineup fan, so my opinion was immediately declared invalid before i'd started it up. and then i was outnumbered, and then 'disqualified' again, because (to paraphrase) "you're in a band anyway, so what the fckk do you know about music anyway?"  hey, destroy all music can't use it, and never forget deny everything deny everything.  i stuck with the horse that brung me (the fall 1980 circle jerks 3-lp prog rock opera being one of my favorite rock albums, then now and inbetween), and, whatever man, i just got outnumbered.  (and no attempt by me was made whatsoever at citing my own caveman-level guitar playing as a credential to qualify myself as a judge of ANY guitar playing except, obviously, the "early 70's heavy metal" that got me through my undergrad state university college years (in fayetteville AR, then dallas/ft worth, and finally a snappy final five semesters in austin, TX, itself right then about to percolate as the western-front of the "outlaw country" movement," the punk rock of its time re nashville's beyond-hideous "countrypolitan sound" (someone drag billy sherrill out of his future grave, hand me an AK-47 assault thing, and i will blow up his skeleton fifty times after i set it on fire with toxic chemical).  i was busy listening to deep purple led zeppelin blue oyster cult grand funk railroad at the time, so i didn't really notice mr sherrill's eternal future label as "the man that satan sent to destroy everything you liked about country music until he got there."  word to that!

note!  CAN SHIP INTERNATIONAL, but just in a brand new 7" cardboard mailer (prob with another layer of cardboard wrapped around it).  please indicate if you want spice girls stickers attahced to the mailer, and whether you prefer scary (spice), sporty the lesbian, or (my 'bias' as the kpop fans say) white girl emma "baby spice" bunton.  or just a bunch of Germs 'circle burns' logo sharpied all over the mailer.  or not.  well ok then.

=====================================
stop right now if you hate "2007 - 2020 kor gg kpop" or when girl voices (asians, not the lame white americans) start rapping and singing, and singing and rapping, it makes your blood get all SWM-noob-boy type of skeered -- seriously, run and hide or your tiny peenis will shrivel like hank rollins trying to write an actual "song" (hasn't happened yet in this lifetime, so it's a safe bet it never will) (did anyone ever actually try to listen to late-BF things / lps like Slip It In?  oh the humanity  -- but anyway --

further info (below), for anyone who has nothing better to do than read while they're watching Espn on afternoon TV and wondering "when is the new baseball season ever going to start?" IF FOR SOME REASON you need to practice "modern dance steps" for about 372 consecutive minutes (an entire 6 hrs / friday afternoon, for all you math majors), here is what we have right here at hayward california's HQ of general but-not-always amazingness, all cued up on VHS tape, more VHS tape, then a D-60 'master copy' cassette, and finally another 92 minutes on the third and final "VHS original master dub" (or for any songwriting obsessives, i can guarantee that the 'chord changes and melody lines' all over VHS Comp Tape #2 are pretty much a nonstop mindfuck (having playing rhythm guitar along with its fifteen songs / sixty minutes at least once, each summer since 2018) --

(fyi for anyone who thought Trolls World Tour was pretty awesome even before it eventually hits a fall "movie theatre" -- playlist #3 (a D-60)'s #CooKieJar by ReD VeLVeT is duh, 'Trolls World Tour''s Kpop Gang! (from a japanese-market CD/ep a couple TV seasons back).

now dance for your dinner, white boy

PLAYING HOUSE lyrics (translated)!  what a goofy lyric!  (about Snow White's 7th dwarf being too shy to tell her how much he luuvs her, so he sings about it in this song)
and the MV (video) for it is soo awesome.  nothing like it even in kpop, since ever, or american white/black/any type, either.  soo f'n goofy/funny!  therefore THE BESTEST MUSIC VIDEO OF ALL TIME

PINK FANTASY  Playing House (2019, did not chart)

PLAYING HOUSE
     by Pink Fantasy

(subject:  Snow White's 7th dwarf, who is too shy to tell her
how much he loves her) (in the Kor, possibly telling the
story through the format of a popular "children's story"
   or maybe not)

A ha (a)!
Come on -- let's play
Yeah Yeah -- all right!
Playing house!

Refreshing and refreshing taste
Laugh laugh
Nowadays, with my favorite drama Senke
Catch the character  (catch me)
(Do. Man. A)
I won't let you go, if I get caught.
What are you doing?
I'm going to do everything and it's okay for you
Tsundere!

    bridge / pre-chorus
I'm crazy about being a kid, what should I do?
(I can't even meet my eyes)
I'm so nervous I can't breathe so I like you every few seconds
1 second 2 seconds 2 × 5 = 10

  CHORUS
I want to play with you
Mom and dad want to play
Goodbye, kiss kiss on both cheeks
Come in early
Eat out today
Sometimes when I'm busy, I eat my toast
I'm going to put it in the ham cheese refrigerator

Plastic apart
Remove the bottle cap
Paper separately
Be careful not to get wet
Glass bottle separately
Pour out all the remaining drinks
Rinse the dishes with water and clean, ha!

Like you and a newlywed
Play house
Separate collection, together
It's so good!

I'm going to do everything and it's okay for you
Tsundere!

    bridge / pre-chorus
What's wrong with the kid
(I can't even meet my eyes)
I'm so nervous I can't breathe so I like you every few seconds
1 second 2 seconds 2 × 5 = 10

(repeat CHORUS)

When did it grow like this?
Don't look easy, I have a tattoo -- but two
If you dare ask me where I did it?
Why are you surprised by both eyebrows here?
You met a woman who can easily see you with all your heart!

I'm so nervous that I can't breathe well
I'm going to be caught like this every few seconds
1 second 2 seconds 2 × 5 = 10

(repeat CHORUS)

I want to meet, not play
I want to be my childhood friend
I'll secretly take out my hidden heart
