Description

For auction is  Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue", 1959, on Columbia CL 1355, MONO.

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Sound-wise,  A/1 ("So What") has a little soft background noise throughout, not too bad. A/2 ("Freddy Freeloader") sounds very good! The most significant flaw is on  A/3 ("Blue in Green"). Near the end of this cut, there is a rather loud "pop" that recurs for about 12 revolutions. Side B/1 (mislabeled as "Flamenco Sketches") has soft background static throughout, not too bad. It has 2-3 louder pops towards the end of the cut.  B/2 (mislabeled as "All Blues") has background static throughout, with 2 areas of 4, then 6, louder pops. All in all, definitely not for a perfectionist, but still very listenable.

This copy has the misprinted order of tunes on side B: The back cover as well as the label read "Flamenco Sketches", followed by "All Blues". The actual order of the tunes on the vinyl is the opposite. Also of note is the misspelling of Julian Adderley as "Adderly" on front and back cover.

Visually, the vinyl is about VG, with some superficial scuffs here and there. There is an obvious spot on A/3, which corresponds to the pop heard on that cut. This record is deep-grooved on both sides. The record has white-and-red promo-labels with the Columbia "Six-Eye" design. Matrix runoffs are stamped, and are as follows: Side 1: XLP47324-1D, with "TA" etched on the opposite side. Side 2: XLP47325-1G, with "T" etched opposite.

The sleeve is about VG+ with no flaws of note other than a bend across the lower right front corner, and some writing on the back upper left. It's clean, with solid seams and corners all around.

The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.

A rare record that has some flaws sound-wise, but listenable nonetheless. No reserve, bidding starts at $30.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
