Absolutely unbelievable pristine copy of the 1956 12” LP pressing of Machito’s Afro-Cuban Jazz LP on Clef MGC-689. Formerly called Afro-Cuban Jazz Suite when it was issued as a 10” LP, this version has that original suite pus a whole second side of another suite. All recorded in 1950 and featuring a wonderful little-known appearance by Charlie Parker (he plays an amazing solo), as well as Buddy Rich on drums. This copy is truly unbelievably minty. The cover still has its original “baggie”, which has protected it from any wear all these years. The cover is very nearly perfect mint with no wear whatsoever apart from the tiniest tiniest wear at the lower right corner, barely at all… and a name written on the back. Otherwise crisp corners, perfectly smooth and clean edges, no ringwear… perfect. The disc appears to me to be possibly unplayed at all, until now. I did gently play it just to be sure there wasn’t an issue that couldn’t be seen. It plays perfectly and just gorgeously. Maybe it has only been played this once. It truly is pristine. I am astonished by what a perfect copy this is. Unbelievable.
