ARTIST: Louis Armstrong and His Orchestra
LABEL: Okeh 8729
TITLES: When You're Smiling / Some Of These Days (C)
CONDITION: E- / E-V+
DESCRIPTION: Rare non-vocal takes of these two chestnuts by Louis, recorded with vocals the same session and issued on Okeh 41298. Louis' first solo chorus on "When You're Smiling" shows his genius at improvising sweet with an economy of notes - the "less is more" school and flip side of Louie's typical take no prisoners soloing. Mostly glossy grooves with slight visible wear showing at end each side. In neither case does this seem to impact the music. A few small tears around center hole each label.
