Description
Artist: Leonid Kogan, Violin, Constantin Silvestri, ConductorTitle: Beethoven, Violin Conderto in D Major, Op. 61 Label/Number: Columbia SAX 2386 (S) Jacket condition: EX Record condition: EX Notes: This is a 1961 UK pressing. The cover is in nice condition with a little ring wear and some very minor shelf wear. There is some minor age yellowing along the opening on the back, a small original price sticker on the top right corner of the back, and the bottom seam is split for about a half-inch at the opening. Overall a nice EX copy. The labels are in very nice condition with no flaws of note. The vinyl is bright and glossy and overall appears to be at least NM with no obvious scratches. However, I played it, just to listen to it, and discovered a couple of tiny, nearly invisible, but "feelable" scratches at the very beginning of Side 1 that create a light tick for a few revolutions at the intro. Furthermore, the record plays with some occasional light surface noise in some of the quieter passages, more so on Side 1 than on Side 2. I've cleaned the record with my Spin Wash so I'm assuming the occasional surface noise is a part of the pressing itself. As noted, it's occasional, in the quieter passages, and not particulary distracting. As an added bonus the record is still contained in its original company poly-lined inner sleeve. Grading: Grading is usually only visual for VG+ or better items, although if time allows I may play to verify the quality of a pressing or just to hear the music. VG items are usually only listed if they are fairly hard-to-find items and are always play graded. Regardless of the grade, if I do play the LP, I note the results in the item description. I use Goldmine standards with Ebay's EX grade added for items NOT QUITE up to NM.Please read the notes above as I try to note anything that might influence the grading one way or another. I try to be conservative and grade as though I were buying the record and hope my feedback speaks well for my grading. Mono (M) or Stereo (S) is noted after catalog number. Don't hesitate to e-mail questions.
Mailing and costs: Domestic shipping is via USPS Ground Advantage with delivery confirmation and insurance coverage up to $100.00. If you purchase this one at the listed price or more, we may want to discuss additional insurance coverage and/or another shipping option. I ship in cardboard mailers made specifically for records with additional cardboard pads for added protection. Shipping and handling charges are a flat $6.00 for up to 2 LP’s and $1.00 for each additional after 2 with a maximum charge of $10.00.
Overseas shipping is via eBay International Shipping. Cost will be calculated based upon the weight of the package and the destination. Custom fees, of course, will also apply.I always mail in a poly sleeve with the record outside the jacket. If there's an original inner sleeve I also remove the record from that and put it in a plain sleeve for mailing. That way, there are no seam splits on either the jacket or the sleeve due to any handling in the mail. I'm always happy to combine shipping costs for multiple purchases.
