Description

Led Zeppelin- Led Zeppelin (Turquoise Text) UK 1st Pressing 1969 EX/VG++.
Vinyl is EX+ (this record is very, very close to near mint, it retains all of its original gloss with very little in the way of surface marks, this is a simply stunning example. The record plays without any skips, clicks or pop, there is a little surface noise on the run-in and run-out, but that isn't at all distracting and I'm certain this could be removed with ultrasonic or wet vacuum cleaning.)This is an absolute beauty of a record, that I'm certain will give close to perfect audio after a cleaning. We do not undertake cleaning simply because some collectors have different opinions about wet cleaning and ultrasonic cleaning. The record plays EX as is.
Sleeve is VG++ (Firstly the turquoise text still pops out and looks fabulous, the grey strip is still clearly visible at the bottom of the sleeve, a little crazing to the laminate please see pics and a slight wear split to the bottom seam, please see pics. Altogether a sleeve in great condition, very well preserved for 53 years old)
Labels are EX (minimal if any spindle marks, there's a little residue from a sticker please see photos and read my explanationbelow)

Original poly lined inner bag included it's VG+ (somewhat discoloured with age, otherwise perfect) Record is kept and will be sent in an archive grade inner bag.
I suspect that this record was originally a promotional copy, there's a little sticker residue on the label (see pics) and the slightest sign of sticker on the back of the sleeve (impossible to show in a photo, I've tried)  Polydor who pressed Atlantic Records in the UK in 1969 didn't issue 'white label' promos, they simply put a sticker on the label and on the sleeve stating 'Promotional Copy, not for resale.
Misprinted label: 1, "3, 4. as Superhype Music and then 3. again as Jewel Music.
Matrix Numbers:

  • Side A: 588171 A//1
  • Side B: 588171 B//1
A true 1st variant  Uncorrected Matrices This record is an absolute gem.
