Description

Nirvana Love Buzz Single #87 / 1000 – Sub Pop!

OVERVIEW:  You are bidding on Nirvana's ultra rare debut record,  the Love Buzz / Big Cheese Single (Sub Pop SP23).  This is a genuine copy and is considered by most as the holy grail of Nirvana / grunge collectibles.  This one’s #87 of 1000.  Very low number and in excellent shape.  Read on for more info.

ABOUT THE SINGLE:  Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Chad Channing recorded this single with Jack Endino at Reciprical Studios in Seattle during the summer of 1988.  It was released in October of 1988 as the first single of the brand new Sub Pop singles club.  The record was limited to 1000 copies on black vinyl.  Each copy was hand numbered in red ink.  It has been documented that the band kept about 100 copies to distribute to friends, family, and radio stations. The rest were distributed through the singles club.  Much to the band’s dislike, you had to be a club member to get the single, so they essentially had a single out there that was impossible for their fans to buy from stores.  The record became highly collectible as Nirvana obliterated the music charts in the early 90’s.  After 1994, the value of the record skyrocketed.  Today the value of the record continues to climb and remains highly sought after by collectors.

CONDITION & DESCRIPTION:   I am very pleased to say both sides of the jacket and both sides of the record are in excellent condition.  The record has no scratches of any kind on it.  The original plastic sleeve still has it’s original orange price sticker of $2.50 from a record store called "In Your Ear."  Also the color of everything looks good and unfaded.

The A side has “Love Buzz”, which is a Shocking blue cover and on the B side is “Big Cheese” – an original Nirvana tune.  Matrix info: A-side is hand written WHY DONT YOU TRADE THOSE GUITARS FOR SHOVELS ? L-31540 SP-23-A and then “kdisc” is stamped,  B-side is hand written L-31540 X SP-23-B and then “kdisc” is stamped.

WRAP UP:  Overall this is a really great record, and a cool collectible, and a solid investment.  I love Nirvana, they are my favorite band.  I am reluctantly selling this only to pay bills (I am a house owner).  In the past few months there are been quite a couple copies of this record that have surfaced on ebay and have sold for around $1800 each, My reserve is a lot less than that.  Also this number #87 is the lowest numbered copy that I have seen for sale on ebay ever.

TERMS:  Buyer to pay flat fee of $20 for USA Priority Mail shipping in the USA (48 states).  The record will be fully insured. Overseas / International shipping will vary, but the price will be at cost.  Please email me if you have any questions, I will try to respond quickly!!  Please check my feedback too.  Happy Bidding and Good luck.
