Description

JOHN LENNON & YOKO ONO - 'WEDDING ALBUM'

'Wedding Album' was the final in a succession of three experimental albums by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Released in 1969, it consisted of two tracks: side 1 "John & Yoko" - a recording of Lennon and Ono calling to each other, through a range of emotions, over the sound of their heartbeats. Side 2: "Amsterdam", the second side, consists of interviews, conversations, and captured sounds during the couple's famous "Bed-In" honeymoon, after being married on 20 March of that year.

The set was presented inside an elaborate, but extremely fragile, box set designed by John Kosh, who also designed the 'Let It Be' box.

This 100% complete NEAR MINT UK set comprises all the following original UK components:

'The Press' - a booklet containing contemporary newspaper stories/cartoons about John & Yoko from around the world.

Two 2-sided posters: 'The Wedding' & another featuring drawings by John & Yoko

A picture of their wedding cake, a 'Bagism' white vinyl bag, two photo-strips & a 'bed-in' postcard

The UK 'Wedding Album' LP (SAPCOR 11)

Matrix numbers: SAPCOR 11A-1 & SAPCOR 11B-1

Stamper codes: 1/O & 1/M

Disc weight: 151g

Housed in an outer-laminated 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed gatefold cover.

All above items are contained within a UK manufactured box with a copy of their wedding certificate pasted onto the underside of the lid.

Unlike the U.S. box, the UK version did not carry its catalogue number on the side spine.

CONDITION

Box: NEAR MINT

This is the best example I have come across of what is an impossible item to find in this condition. Carefully and correctly stored in a clean, non-smoking environment this remarkable example is pristine white all-over with no yellowing, stains or any other visible blemishes on the lid or lower tray.

The lid is immaculate with unworn corners which are still 100% intact with no splits to any and the spine is perfectly worded and unfaded.

The lower tray is just a fine, with again no wear to any edge or corner.

Above left is the right panel of the LP gatefold cover and above right is the rear of the hand-drawn poster.

Box Contents: EXCELLENT to NEAR MINT

All components are 100% original, clean & undamaged. There is some light handling wrinkles on the paper items, but no tears, writing or any major faults to any.

LP

Labels: NEAR MINT

Both are perfectly clean & unworn and bear just a small handful of faint, well aimed spindle trails around the side 2 centre hole and just 1 on side 1.

Visual: MINT

Pristine, factory-fresh playing surfaces which are umarked and as new both in strong daylight AND directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp.

Sound Quality: MINT

Flawless, unworn sound throughout.

LP Cover: EXCELLENT +

A perfectly clean and high-gloss example with an immaculate unworn front leaf & inner gatefold panels. The only factor which prevents a NM grade is an 8mm tear to the upper part of the central hinge which is also visible in the upper right corner of the rear panel.

All in all, this is one of the best example of this set around and would not require upgrading.
