Description

John Coltrane with Frank Wess and Paul Quinichette    Wheelin' & Dealin'   Prestige 7131  446 W. 50th St., N.Y.C. label

John Coltrane, Paul Quinichette (ts), Frank Wess (ts, fl) Mal Waldron (piano),  Doug Watkins (b), Art Taylor (d)    Recorded 1957

Label has 446 W. 50th St., N.Y.C. address and deep groove on both sides.  Record has groove guard.  "RVG" and "8J"  in the runout on both sides.  Cover has "447 west 50th street, new york 19, n.y. " address.

Record plays M- beautifully and quietly. Hard to believe that you will find a Prestige of this vintage that will play better .  Record looks M- and was still in the original, intact glassine sleeve which I had to tear to get the record out.  I doubt that this record had ever been played before my test play.  Record is bright and glossy and grooves look unplayed or nearly so.  There is a wavy pressing swirl in the vinyl on Side 1 which does not affect play.  No scratches. No scuffs. No Spindle marks.  A superb copy.

Cover is VG+.

Front cover looks beautiful. It is super bright and glossy and shows little, if any wear.   There's a not obvious buckling or bulge of the laminate near the pocket about halfway down. Slight denting at the pocket near the bottom. Tiny spot of wear at the top corner of spine. 1/2 inch split seam untaped and heavy wear at top corner of the pocket. Bottom seam and spine tight and intact.   Back cover shows only very light wear but has staining at the pocket.  Front cover laminate applied slightly off center, so writing on spine is at very bottom of spine and edge of back cover.  No writing.

I WILL BE RUNNING WEEKLY AUCTIONS OF 50s and 60s JAZZ LPS INC. BLUE NOTE  1500s PRESTIGE NYCs TRANSITIONS ETC. MANY WEEKS AND SOME HIGH END ITEMS TO COME.

My highest grade is M- and I rarely grade 50s or 60s records M-. Records are graded visually using the Goldmine system. I play grade any potential problem areas.  I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. You will be satisfied.  No hassles.
