Description

Original 1950s Howlin' Wolf LP entitled, "Moanin' In The Moonlight." This is on the Chess label LP 1434 (original, first pressing with black and silver 'deep groove' labels). This is a guaranteed original pressing; record is pressed on very thick/heavy vinyl and it has the 'Sheldon' stamper in the trailoff area of both sides. Grading is as follows:
The vinyl is in exceptionally clean VG+ condition with full gloss and it plays very nicely!! There are no scuff marks or scratches on the record. There are just a few of typical surface 'pressing anomalies' present which are quite common with most of the earliest Chess label LP's. Nevertheless, this is still a very enjoyable listening experience overall. I played both sides of this record with a regular Stanton stylus (tracked at 1.5 grams). Several very light spindle marks on each label, but no nicks or gouges etc. Comes with its original plain white inner sleeve; however, the record is now housed in a newer, polylined/antistatic sleeve.

The cover is a very solid VG and it displays very nicely overall!! There is a little very light surface wear to both sides (a little more so on the back than the front...), a very small 'pressure wrinkle' in one of the bottom corners that was lightly reinforced with a couple old pieces of clear tape, the very beginning of a slight two-inch split at the middle of the top seam edge only, one very tiny little white 'speck' in the upper-right corner of the front side only, a small discoloration 'blotch' in the center-area of the back side only, and a small old store ink mark along the top edge of the back side only as well. There is just some light wear to three of the four corner tips. The spine has just a couple tiny 'flakes' of wear as well, but nearly all the text is still fully legible. No large splits, no tears, no creases, no writing, no large stains, no cutout holes, no delete marks, etc.

Items pictured in any of my listings are always the actual items that buyers will receive from me.

Payment by PAYPAL ONLY....I do not accept any other form of payment. Unless the buyer makes a different arrangement with me, payment is expected within three days (72 hours) from the closing date of the item.

Buyer satisfaction and returns:  Item must be returned to me in the same condition as it was packaged and mailed to the buyer.

Items are normally shipped within 1 to 2 business days from receipt of payment.

My vinyl and cover/sleeve gradings are as follows:

MINT: I do not use this grade except for sealed/unopened items.

NEAR MINT or MINT MINUS: Vinyl looks basically brand new, untouched, unplayed or nearly unplayed. Cover looks pretty much as new with no real flaws to speak of. This is basically how the item would have looked when it was new from the factory.

VG++: Very close to M-, with vinyl showing only the very slightest, most subtle signs of any past handling or play. Cover may show just the barest hint of wear from age, but nothing at all serious or detracting.

VG+: Vinyl shows some subtle signs that it was played in the past, but was generally well taken care of. Cover shows only some minor signs of age or wear, but nothing too detracting.

VG: Vinyl is beginning to show more obvious signs of past handling and play but still has strong sound quality overall. Cover is beginning to show more signs of age and wear, but is fully intact and still displays very well overall.

GOOD: Vinyl has very obvious signs of wear from over the years, but still plays strongly and enjoyably enough. Cover has obvious wear and tear from age, but is intact and still displayable.

***My very good and good records are very good and good, not bad and even worse! I also do not use the EX (excellent) grading at all.***

FAIR:  Record wasn’t properly cared for in the past and very clearly shows it, but it is still playable and should be enjoyable enough for some. I rarely offer records in this condition.
