VISUALLY,THE 57 YEAR OLD THICK VINYL PLATTER IS IN EX- CONDITION!

I HAVE EXAMINED THIS UNDER BRIGHT LIGHT AND SEE THAT THE VERY THICK RARE PLATTER STILL HAS MOST OF ITS ORIGINAL LUSTER. I DO SEE MANY MANY EXTREMELY LIGHT SCUFFS/HAIRLINES. (MOSTLY THE SWIRLY VARIETY) WITH 1 LIGHT  SCRATCH BEING JUST BARELY FEEL-ABLE. NONE OF WHICH SERIOUSLY EFFECTS THE EXCELLENT LISTENING EXPERIENCE!

THE LABELS ARE FREE OF ANY WRITING OR STICKERS BUT SHOW LOTS OF SPINDLE TRAILS FROM BEING LOVED SO MUCH!

OVERALL I GRADE THE VINYL EX-

THE COVER  STILL PRESENTS DECENTLY. THERE IS NO WRITING OR STICKERS ANYWHERE! THE SPINE IS STRONG & TIGHT BUT WORN AT THE CORNERS. BOTH SEAMS HAVE VERY NICELY DONE PARTIAL REPAIRS. VERY HARD TO NOTICE.THERE IS SOME MINOR EVIDENCE OF RING/SHELF ON THE FRONT SIDE, LITTLE TO NONE ON THE REVERSE SIDE. THE COVER HAS RETAINED SOME OF IT'S ORIGINAL GLOSS. THERE IS A STAIN IN THE LOWER RIGHT BOARDER & CORNER. IT IS ON THE REVERSE SIDE AS WELL.

THE REVERSE SIDE LINER NOTES ARE TOTALLY READABLE & CLEAN. THERE IS SOME SOILING/STAINING AS SHOWN AND AN "S" STAMP UPPER RIGHT CORNER.

THERE ARE SOME MINOR DINGS/CREASES/SCUFFS & STAINING AS SHOWN.

BASED ON THE ABOVE IMPERFECTIONS THE COVER GRADES VG BUT STILL PRESENTS PROUDLY!

I HAVE PLAY GRADED THIS AND THE LISTENING EXPERIENCE WAS EXCELLENT!

SHE PLAYED WITH MINOR NOISE HERE AND THERE BUT NOTHING I CONSIDERED TO BE OVERLY DISTRACTING. A FEW SOFT TICS/POPS AND SOME GENERAL BACKGROUND NOISE...MOSTLY HEARD BETWEEN SONGS. NOTHING CONTINUOUS OR OVERWHELMING IN ANT WAY!

OVERALL THE LISTENING EXPERIENCE GRADES EXCELLENT AND VERY MUCH ENJOYABLE!

OVERALL CONSIDERING ALL OF THE ABOVE I GIVE THIS ROCKIN' LP A GRADE OF EX-

Gene Vincent's very first album, cut in June 1956, was a rushed affair — which is obvious from the haphazard song selection — but manages to be one of the most exciting LPs to come out of the early rock & roll era, rivaling Elvis Presley's first two albums, which date from the same period. Its virtues, which is to say, the virtues of Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps as high energy rock & rollers, transcend the lack of quality songs on the album — the title hit is joined by some rocked up standards ("Lazy River," "Peg O' My Heart," and "Ain't She Sweet," which the Beatles picked up in their early repertory by way of Vincent, and made their first vocal recording five years later), a country ballad ("Wedding Bells") or two, and some hastily written rave-ups ("Jumps, Giggles and Shouts," etc.), little of it high-grade rock & roll material in and of itself. As it turned out, Vincent and his band didn't need first-rate songs to produce great rock & roll — they rise to the occasion here, throwing the hard rocking numbers into the air like the musical equivalent of jitterbug dancing, or stretching out elegantly on the handful of ballads, and the result is one of the few truly virtuoso rock & roll albums of the era. What sets Bluejean Bop apart from Elvis' albums, in particular, and most other white rock & roll of the period, is that it has the tight sound of an actual working band, where Elvis' (and most other white rock & rollers') albums, in particular, almost inevitably featured session players whose presence helped make for an idealized recording, but not a good representation of how they sounded on stage — which is what rock & roll was really about. Vincent and company, by contrast, were playing shows virtually every night during the period of these sessions. The sessions themselves were done in a hurry, without any help from studio musicians; and they were conducted with minimal input from producer Ken Nelson, who pretty much let the band do what came naturally. The result is a lean, tight sound, akin to a live recording — which this practically was — in terms of minimal retakes, lots of spontaneity, and no overdubbing. Bluejean Bop was reissued in 1998 by Collectables Records, paired off with Vincent's next album, Gene Vincent & His Blue Caps, on the same CD, as Bluejean Bop/Gene Vincent & His Blue Caps.

MINT

Mint records are in most cases sealed in original shrink wrap. The only wear permissible is to the shrink wrap itself.

NEAR-MINT

NM records have glossy vinyl. There are no visible defects such as writing, tape, or stickers on the labels. The labels should not contain any spindle marks(from someone blindly trying to put the record on the turntable) The vinyl may have a few extremely fine hairline scratches or light scuffs that do not affect the sound quality. The vinyl will "appear" to have been unplayed (It may very well have been played and well-cared for)The album cover will haveNO writing, tape, creases, folds, seam splits,stains, ring wear or Promo holes or cuts!

VG+(EXCELLENT)

VG+records have glossy vinyl. Slight signs of wear, including light scuffs, very light scratches or slight warping that does not seriously affect the listening experience is permissible. Very slight intermittent background noise mostly in the quiet passages is acceptable.

The album cover will have no more than three of the following imperfections: light writing such as initials or name in one area, minor creasing, seam splitsnot larger than 1". Neatly taped seams of 2" or less.It may also contain very slight ring wear or discoloration, a promo stamp, punch hole or cut-out as originally sold.

VG

VG Records have more obvious flaws such as more pronounced scratches & lack of gloss. Groove wear and scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail are common. When played there will be surface noise but it should not continuously overpower the music. There are NO skips permissible with no more than 1.5 grahams of tracking force. It is common to hear crackling and pops especially in the quiet passages. The labels may contain writing such as a persons name or initials or it may contain a piece of tape or sticker with or without writing. The cover may have some seam splits, writing, tape, stickers, ring wear and scuffs.

VG-

VG- All of the defects listed VG category would be more pronounced. The record will play through without skipping WITH tracking force. A quick skip or two with no more that 2.5 grahams of tracking force are permissible. The record will have many obvious flaws but still enjoyable to listen to. Generally if the record is rare, it is still highly collectible.

G+

Good (G), Good Plus (G+) Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping WITH N normal tracking force. A quick skip or two with no more that 2.5 grahams of tracking force are permissible. It will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear (on a styrene record, the groove will be starting to turn white). A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
