MOTOWN COLLECTORS - ORIGINAL PICTURE SLEEVE ISSUES - ALWAYS HARD TO COME BY.
Here's a very nice original 1965 USA white Demo copy with the elusive picture sleeve of this timeless classic from THE FOUR TOPS with "ASK THE LONELY" and backed with "WHERE DID YOU GO" on the US MOTOWN imprint # 1073.
Pricing has always been partly determined by the condition of the sleeve rather than the record itself and finding a copy with a decent matching picture sleeve has always been a challenge as many have become soiled and dog-eared over time with heavy creasing, rips, written annotations, price stickers, coffee staining as well as the inevitable deletion drill hole and ring wear. On a scale of 1 through 10 with "ten" being mint, I would rate this sleeve as at "6" with moderate ring wear, light creasing, some small rips and staple holes along the opening top edge, a deletion drill hole and with a price sticker and dealer stamp on the front cover.
The disc itself plays perfectly throughout with great audible quality and remains in excellent condition with some trace of light crackle on the run-in and run-out groove and with light sleeve rubs and surface fingernail scuffs not affecting play. The labels are clean on both sides but with some evidence of light radio station annotations relating to fade time. Irrespective, still a very decent copy of this rare combination for the DJ or collector (see picture scans).
