ROCK "N" ROLL.
BY
ELVIS PRESLEY.
ORIGINAL 1956 UNITED KINGDOM PRESSING.

Matrix number side 1    2XAV 255-1N
Matrix number side 2    2XAV 256-1N

This is an original 1956 UK first pressing of ROCK "N" ROLL by the one and only THE KING ELVIS PRESLEY on RCA Victor. These turn up for sale now and then but rarely in condition like this.
THE SLEEVE.
Due to the nature of this particular sleeve which is quite thin and flimsy most that show up are shot to pieces, this one is a corker. The very slightest ring wear, the colours are still very vibrant. The only real damage is to the front a couple of inches or so above the letter Y in the word Presley right to the edge of the album jacket. Other than that the front panel is superb . The spine is fully readable totally uncrushed and still holds a great shape as you can see if you double click the pictures. The back panel of this beautiful Half moon flip back sleeve is just fantastic its only flaws being a couple of the lightest laminate cracks and there is some laminate lift to the top flip back right corner. The white areas are really bright no dulling, or foxing and no unwanted handwriting anywhere on this item, lovely. The rest is STUNNINGLY clean , incidentally, please note the position of the iconic "dog looking down the gramophone" emblems position. Dead centre, of the lower half moon flip back, (this is the usual method that identifies this sleeve as the GENUINE earliest first sleeve). Later pressings carried that world famous emblem to the left of the half moon.
The original 1956 "TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR RECORDS" inner sleeve is also present and the cellophane is very firmly attached and is in EXCELLENT condition The sleeve grades as EXCELLENT PLUS.You would be very hard pushed to find one better.
THE RECORD.
The record labels on both sides are in beautiful condition there are a few spindle trails but you really have to search to see them. Side 2 bares the correct embossed XT tax code so the labels are also EXCELLENT.
This very heavy slab of 1950`s vinyl still retails a lovely sheen to both sides but it does have hairline marks to both sides these are barely visible in a normally lit room. Only when tilted into a bright light then you can see more of them, these are very light and spider web like. There is nothing on any side of the vinyl that is feelable and this record plays astonishingly well. Both sides play entirely without jumps skips or sticking. There is nothing on here that spoils the listeners enjoyment of the record . It plays Superbly its only the unsightly hairlines under a bright light that stops me grading higher than a Excellent minus to Very Good +.Overall this is a fantastic copy of a serious piece of the true History of Rock "N" Roll from the man who started it all. An ORIGINAL 1956 UK FIRST PRESSING of ELVIS PRESLEY`S debut !

I have received 4 offers to end this auction early which I am great full for but have declined. On the assumption that two of the

people are new to collecting or to collecting Elvis Presley records, as both offered £250 .I suggested they do a little research. Here are 2 other examples of this LP that are currently up on ebay. Look them up as they display the more common standard of this particular sleeve that show up for sale or auction of this incredibly rare album.
 eBay items 325171473323 and 154807096230 .
There is a reason why many are damaged and it is not simply because this item is 66 years old.It is due largely to the superior quality paper that they used. It was of such high quality that it lacked the durability of the paper they used over the following 10 years or so. Even though it was fully laminated it was still too delicate !
This record is from an epoch when England ruled the world in this particular technology. From the 50s to the mid 70s the UK was producing the finest quality vinyl and I mean every aspect of the album not just the vinyl but the labels and especially the album sleeves, it was only toward the end of the 60s to the mid 70s that Japan was hot on the UK`s heels followed closely by the United States and both eventually caught up and this toobecame another lucrative industry that this country just let slip away. Sad. This item is a time portal into an era that is now gone and it is never coming back.In years to come an item like this should be the show stopper on the antiques roadshow.
To find one of these sleeves in this condition is a serious rarity and a true opportunity for the more serious Presley collector. This auction will run its course hopefully it will go to someone who appreciates what they will be holding in their hands. If you want it. Win it !
