Description

Original 1950s Elvis Presley, self-titled, three-EP set with gatefold cover on the RCA Victor label SPD-23 (first pressing; black labels with the Nipper dog at the top and with the horizontal silver line). This is a guaranteed original pressing; the matrix numbers are machine stamped in the trailoff area of all six sides of the records. This very rare set was a bonus/promotional item that was available only to buyers of a higher-priced, Elvis Presley "signature model" Victrola 45 rpm record player back in 1956. It was never sold separately to the general record-buying public. This is a very unique opportunity to own this set complete and in exceptionally clean, way above-average condition!! Grading is as follows:
The vinyls are all in beautifully clean VG++ to M- condition with full gloss and all six sides play great overall!! There is one very tiny pressing 'dimple' in the wax on side 3, track 2 "I'll Never Let You Go (Little Darlin')" that sounds ever-so-slightly for about 6 or 7 revolutions then disappears. I played all six sides with a regular Stanton stylus (tracked at 1.5 grams). All three records are nice and flat with no warping etc. and all three look like they were rarely (if ever) handled or played over the years!! All of the labels look great also, with no writing or stickers on any. The vinyls and labels have all of their original gloss and shine and these records are in quite remarkable shape overall!! Each of the records is now housed in newer, polylined/antistatic sleeve outside the actual cover.

The gatefold cover is a sharp, bright and attractive VG+ and it displays very nicely overall!! There is one little (one-inch) 'pressure split' at the middle of the top edge of the front record pocket only and a very tiny (half-inch) 'pressure split' at the middle of the bottom edge of the front record pocket only as well. There is also just a little very slight age 'toning/foxing' to the two inner (blank white) portions of the gatefold and on the back side as well. All things considered, this is a very nice-looking cover overall and certainly much better than many I've seen offered over the years!!
Also included is a blue, six-inch promotional flexi 'Music Guide Preview' insert from RCA Victor!! This was inside one of the gatefolds when I originally obtained the set. This must have been included by RCA along with the set when it was originally sold at the dealership all those years ago. It is in great shape as well!!

Items are normally shipped within 1 to 2 business days from receipt of payment.

My vinyl and cover/sleeve gradings are as follows:

MINT: I do not use this grade except for sealed/unopened items.

NEAR MINT or MINT MINUS: Vinyl looks basically brand new, untouched, unplayed or nearly unplayed. Cover looks pretty much as new with no real flaws to speak of. This is basically how the item would have looked when it was new from the factory.

VG++: Very close to M-, with vinyl showing only the very slightest, most subtle signs of any past handling or play. Cover may show just the barest hint of wear from age, but nothing at all serious or detracting.

VG+: Vinyl shows some subtle signs that it was played in the past, but was generally well taken care of. Cover shows only some minor signs of age or wear, but nothing too detracting.

VG: Vinyl is beginning to show more obvious signs of past handling and play but still has strong sound quality overall. Cover is beginning to show more signs of age and wear, but is fully intact and still displays very well overall.

GOOD: Vinyl has very obvious signs of wear from over the years, but still plays strongly and enjoyably enough. Cover has obvious wear and tear from age, but is intact and still displayable.

***My very good and good records are very good and good, not bad and even worse! I also do not use the EX (excellent) grading at all.***

FAIR:  Record wasn’t properly cared for in the past and very clearly shows it, but it is still playable and should be enjoyable enough for some. I rarely offer records in this condition.
