ELMO JAMES LP THE SKY IS CRYING (Sphere Sound Records LP 7002) Released 1962.

This album is by Elmore James, but he calls himself Elmo here. Our copy came from the original owner, who took very good care of the albums. We will be listing more great blues rarities from this collection shortly. Original US mono pressing on the rare Sphere Sound label with its appealing design. Superlative cover with deep, rich unfaded colors. Good sturdy cardboard cover. (Etched matrix: "7002 MA/MB    4-11-65    Bell Sound").
Contains such Elmore James classics as the LP title track, 'Dust My Broom', 'I Held My Baby', 'Fine Little Mama', 'I Done Somebody Wrong', 'Standing At The Crossroads' and more.

COVER - VERY GOOD PLUS PLUS

Cover has no seam splits, stains, tape, ink spills, smudges, puncture holes, writing, or stickers. No ring wear. Come corner banging and a small amount of scuffing on the back. The spine looks nice & is all readable. All in all, very nice to look at. Label looks very good with no stains, marks, scuffs, cuts & writing. Partial break in the paper label on side B, but this is inaudible & does not affect play. Sharp-cut hole free of spindle brushings.

DISC - NEAR MINT

The disc looks quite nice with no scratches, scuffs, skips, streaking or residue on the disc or dead wax. Platter surface still exudes a nice surface sheen. Free of chips, cracks & warping. One brief, inaudible hairline fleck-hard to spot. There are a few shallow, inaudible pits which do not affect play. This well-pressed platter holds its sound better than a cheaper modern pressing.
