This is the original 1959 First Pressing of
" ELLA FITZGERALD SINGS THE GEORGE & IRA GERSHWIN SONGBOOK " VERVE MG V-4026
This is the original iteration of this release. It is housed in a " Flip Top " style box. Shortly after production was started the box was changed to the much more common "coffin" style box.
The contents are COMPLETE and in NEAR MINT condition. The 7" EP, the 5 LPs, and the 5 Bernard Buffet Lithos are all pretty stunning.
This is a Mid-Century Modern classic if ever there was one. Ideally ,you should be reclining in an Eames lounge chair feet up on the ottoman with a cocktail in hand as Ella's voices blasts out of a teak console with Fisher 400 and some JBL speakers...you get the idea.
Excellent condition to the box, all corners are sturdy, minimal shelf wear to edges noticeable and a very small ink stamp mark at bottom left back corner (see photos) .The vinyl is mostly EX or NM-, fully glossy, seems to have been rarely played. a few very tiny faint lines can be seen under strong light inspection ( these are the type just caused from the sleeve) and if you look close you can see minimal spindle marks on a couple labels. These flaws are minimal and really only noticeable under close inspection. The only other flaw is that some of the inner sleeves have splits due to moving around and the sleeve housing the lithographs is slightly discolored having been next to the original cardboard squares. Fortunately , the original owner left these in which probably helped the box retain its durability. I believe I have described this fully. Please examine photos closely and ask any questions you may have.
