B/W: blank

Label: Emidisc Acetate UK

Record: VG (single-sided acetate; fully intact play surfaces; some very slight splitting visible to lacquer in dead wax area and blank reverse side does not cause any issues or show the metal core - still a stable and very well preserved acetate; small dimple in lacquer at very start of song can be heard in our sample audio below; tiny sticker residue mark on label and dead wax; very small storage warp - does not affect play)

Includes original folded lyric sheet, please see photos.

Please refer to our full sample audio below - we added 3 bleeps to the sample audio - bleeps are not on the actual recording.

Guaranteed genuine vintage original demo acetate acquired from a publishing company archive here in New York City along with some other acetates we have up this week. Please don't hesitate to bid, this item is a fully guaranteed original demo acetate from 1967 when the song was recorded.

Copied with permission from DavidBowieAutograph blog/website:

"Recorded as a demo in September 1967, potentially for the unreleased second Deram LP, this song only came to light in 2011/12. It's a wistful song and could have potentially fitted onto the Philips LP, later renamed Space Oddity. Similar in structure to Shadow Man and Conversation Piece. Bowie wrote “C’est la Vie” in the summer of 1967 and his manager Ken Pitt (who's archive owns the partially written lyrics) sent demos that October to song publishers and the American singer Chris Montez (the original Lets Dance/The More I See You) who Pitt knew personally but received no response. The demo tape of “C’est la Vie”, which had several versions of the song probably indicated that Pitt thought it was one of Bowie’s better songs at the time."

We only lightly cleaned the acetate with Audio Intelligent's acetate and shellac safe non-alcohol cleaner and played it just one time for the sample audio.
