Description

The complete 1970 DGG Beethoven Anniversary edition.

Included in this auction are all 12 originally issued volumes, with all together 76 LPs. At least eight of the 12 volumes are first editions, only 1, 6, 7,and 12 seem to be from the 2nd pressing, at least concerning the print on the papersleeve-spines. There are, however, no variances detectable concerning labels, all have the earliest small tulip "Urheber"- label. The same goes for the linen boxes. Volumes 10 & 11 are still sealed, although the seals are already broken in places.

This is Beethoven's complete oeuvre, interpreted by some of the most renowned artists of the 20th century. List of artists includes Herbert von Karajan, Karl Böhm, Pierre Fournier, Henryk Szeryng, Christian Ferras, Wilhelm Kempff, The Amadeus Quartet, Yehudi Menuhin and many more.

Contents:

  • Volume 1: The Nine Symphonies (8 LPs)

  • Volume 2: The Concertos (7 LPs)

  • Volume 3: Chamber Music for Wind-Instruments (3 LPs)

  • Volume 4: String Quartets and Quintets (11 LPs)

  • Volume 5: String Trios (3 LPs)

  • Volume 6: Piano Trios (6 LPs)

  • Volume 7: Violin and Cello Sonatas (8 LPs)

  • Volume 8: Piano Works (14 LPs)

  • Volume 9: The Masses (3 LPs)

  • Volume 10: Fidelio (3 LPs)

  • Volume 11: Music for the Stage (3 LPs)

  • Volume 12: Songs and other vocal works (7 LPs)

  • Condition Boxes and Booklets: Strong EX to NM. Light general storage-wear. All outer papersleeves are widely intact, only small splits here and there. The massive red linen boxes are all in splendid minty condition, I removed one papersleeve to make photos of how the boxes look without the papersleeve-protection. Booklets are all in beautiful minty condition.

  • Condition Vinyl: Mint. Most likely bought to own, not to be listened to. I checked every box and could not trace any signs of usage. There might have been LPs that have been played once, but it's rather unlikely. Awesome mint collection! Labels are all looking like the one example on the photo.

About my record-grading:

All records are described as accurately as possible and I will always prefer a more detailed depiction of the actual status, but usually I’ll only visually grade the records.

Please note that old records that were stored in shelves for a long time might have static noises even if they still look like new. Professional cleaning will almost always solve that problem.

Dust on records will generally not influence my gradings but if records appear to have stronger signs of soiling, I will give them a professional cleaning and playgrade them to get a more objective view on what their condition is actually like.
