Description

This is the very rare original Greek pressing of the Dead Kennedys’ ‘Too drunk to f**k’ 7” single (b-side is ‘The prey’). This is probably the rarest foreign Dead Kennedys pressing, since there was an extremely limited run made. This 7” was issued in 1981, the year of its official release, on the Greek Music Box label, with the code number MB 10099 (check out the scan of the label). Music Box was not a punk label but a mainstream company that issued mostly the records of Greek artists, as well we Greek pressings of foreign records in limited quantities (it also issued the Abba albums, for example). How they came to the decision to press the Dead Kennedys 7” is beyond me, though my guess is that it had something to do with the UK’s Cherry Red Records handling the rights for the Dead Kennedys’ recordings in a lot of European countries… Music Box also issued the DK’s ‘Fresh fruit…’ LP. Though wereas that LP was a regular pressing the ‘Too drunk to f**k’ single came out (a year later) in just a handful of copies. According to the Flex! U.S. Hardcore Discography book, there were only 250 made, which must be quite right, since it rarely turns up and even in Greece most collectors have never seen a copy. According to Flex! Some copies came with a numbered sleeve (which is totally different to the regular one). The rest came with the regular ‘Music Box’ company 45 sleeve. My guess is that this 7” was issued mostly as a promo and not to be sold at record stores, that is why even the odd copy that turns up usually does not have the aforementioned picture sleeve. The copy of the ‘Too drunk to f**k’ 7” sold here is housed in a ‘Music Box’ company sleeve (which is a treat in itself, as you can see in the scan). The vilyl is in Excellent condition. Air-Mail postage is as follows: for European residents, LP’s are $8 each and 45’s are $5 each. For the States, Asia and everywhere else, LP’s are $10 each and 45’s $5 each. Payment must be received within 15 days after the end of the auction. You can pay by PayPal or by sending well concealed cash (U.S. dollars or Euros) inside a Registered letter.
