Description

Contempo demo 7" by Major Lance,A:Darl And Lonely,B:My Girl(Live at The Torch). A side has 'RELEASE DATE : 28-9-73' left of centre. Both sides have 'Demonstration Sample Not For Sale To The General Public' to side of die-cut centre. Both sides play perfect.1973.                                                                 Includes letter from Contempo;"The ever-popular Major returns with a slow, powerful ballad which will undoubtedly find favour with soul fans throughout the country.Since his pacting with Contempo,Major has further increased his already strong fan following in the U.K. and the release of his album,"Live At The Torch" (from which the flip, his version of the old Temps.' song is taken) mad a strong sales impression."Dark And Lonely" was previously recorded by Major in his early days with Okeh Records and the song was written by Jerry Butler's brother,Billy (who was also responsible for Major's initial Contempo single,"The Right Track).Produced by Major himself, with a stunning arrangement from Gerry Shury, the song is much in the vein of the old Curtis Mayfield/Impressions style and will certainly register well with fans of that particular vogue.Without a doubt,a fine release that could garner strong sales and possibly pick up some airplay too"
