Description

Brahms Violin Concerto Kogan U.K. Columbia SAX 2307 Magic Notes

Is this among the most collectible of all Desert Island Discs? A sublime performance and a superb recording makes this early U.K. Columbia record much sought after.

Leonid Kogan with the Philharmonia Conservatoire Orchestra conducted by Kyril Kondrashin performs the Brahms “Violin Concerto”. An English stereo pressing on the Columbia Label (SAX 2307 Stampers YAX 303-4 / YAX 304-11), the labels are blue/green with silver border and “radio waves”, a groove, and black Columbia and stereo flash with magic note logo. The record has a few minor surface scuffs and some microscopic marks on side two causes a little crackle, otherwise the record is of excellent appearance and plays and sound superb with occasional minor low-level surface noise. The cover laminate has rubbed a little and there are some yellow marks on the back (tape stains from another cover), otherwise this is in excellent condition.
