Incredibly rare original guaranteed very early pressing, circa May ~ September 1963, factory sealed copy of the second studio album by Bob Dylan released on May 27, 1963. The legendary cover art which depicts Dylan walking in an embrace with Susan Elizabeth Rotolo, at that time simply “Suze”, Dylan’s girlfriend. Unlike Dylan’s debut album, “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan” almost fully consists of songs composed by Dylan himself. Without any doubts this is an outstanding album which is considered to be one of 500 greatest rock albums according to the “Rolling Stone” magazine. It’s not coincidental that I mentioned Rotolo above as many critics attribute the emotional dynamics of the album’s tracks to the intense relationships between Dylan and his girlfriend. If you’re a Bob Dylan fan than you might be interested in finding Rotolo’s autobiographical book “A Freewheelin’ Time: A Memoir of Greenwich Village in the Sixties” which was approximately published in 2008. Inspecting the album very carefully, I dare to state that this copy is a very early pressing. First of all, it’s has an incredibly rare hype sticker affixed to the front cover underneath the shrink wrap which can be found only on the very early 1st Mono copies of this album. The rectangular sticker measures 3⅛” x 2 ¾” and reads “Singing His Sensational Hit ‘BLOWIN’ IN THE WIND”. The second feature of this copy is the fact that the back cover contains the number “3” in the lower right-hand corner. This is an extremely rare cover variation indeed printed by Modern Album Finishing Co. It’s very hard to find an opened copy whose cover would have the “3” number, not to even mention a sealed copy. I can confirm that the information on the web saying that the copies with the number “3” on the cover were pressed at the Columbia Records pressing plant in Terre Haute, IN is true as all of the opened copies containing the “3” on the cover that I’ve had indeed were pressed there. Therefore, it would be logical to assume that the runout groove of this copy’s vinyl has the “T” machine stamp on both sides. The vinyl of this copy, just like all of the 1st commercial pressings of this release, contain the red 2-eye “Guaranteed High-Fidelity” Columbia Records labels with the catalog number CL-1986 above the “Nonbreakable” banner. If I’m right then the currently listed factory sealed copy of Bob Dylan’s second studio album represents a very early incredibly rare commercial Mono pressing.

The album is in stunning Mint condition. The shrink wrap contains two breathe holes on the front and is fully intact only having some very light age shelf wear.
