Beethoven Violin Concerto Kogan <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />U.K. Columbia SAX 2386 Magic Notes ED1<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Is this the most collectible of all Desert Island Discs. A sublime performance and a superb recording makes this early U.K. Columbia record much sought after.

Leonid Kogan with the Paris Conservatoire Orchestra conducted by Constantin Silvestri performs the Beethoven “Violin Concerto”. An English stereo pressing on the Columbia Label (SAX 2386 Matrix YLX 1052-1 & YLX 1053-1 and a 1 on the left an G to the right), the labels are blue/green with silver border and “radio waves” and black Columbia and stereo flash with magic note logo. The record is of immaculate appearance (no spindle marks) and plays and sounds superb with a minimum of surface noise. This is quite simply one of the finest classical records I have heard. The cover laminate has rubbed a little and is otherwise in excellent condition condition.
