Description

The Beatles - Please Please Me
This exceptional copy of the Beatles' debut studio album is a UK first pressing on the highly sought after black and gold Parlophone label.
Please Please Me records with the 'ringed label' and 1H mother and stamper codes were produced in the first production run by the 1950s EMI pressing machine prior to or alongside the 1G/1G records. The record for sale here has a non-ringed label on side 1 and a ringed label on side 2 suggesting that it moved between pressing machines during its production. I have seen many Black and Gold 1st pressings but I have never seen one of these! I doubt another one exists.
The vinyl, of course, has the 1st variation labels which credit Dick James as the publisher for the titles A1, A2, A6, A7, B4 & B5.
The vinyl is housed within the front-side laminated Ernest J. Day sleeve with Angus McBean photo credit position in the bottom right hand corner on the front of the sleeve and 'cut-out' flip-backs to the reverse.
Also included is the original heavy paper polythene lined EMItex die-cut inner sleeve with blue/grey text that only came with very early pressings.

Serial number: PMC 1202
Matrix number: XEX 421 - 1N / XEX 422 - 1N
Stamper codes: 2 GO / 1 H
Tax Codes: MT
Vinyl Weight: 170g

Condition:

Vinyl: EXCELLENT
Labels: EXCELLENT -
The labels are bright, clean and without writing. There are several light spindle marks on either sides and very slight rubbing around the spindle hole to side 2.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Superb 'factory-fresh' deep-gloss playing surfaces which only show a handful of light surface scuffs in strong daylight. None are reelable. Under a strong halogen bulb wispy hairline marks can be seen along side an iridescent rainbow sheen.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT
The heavy weight mono pressing sounds simply superb. There is no sign of groove/play wear. There are quiet lead-ins to both sides and minimal static in between tracks. A really strong example.
Sleeve: EXCELLENT
The original sleeve looks fantastic. The front retains the original lustre. The cover art is vibrant with bright colours. The rear is remarkably clean with only subtle signs of discolouration along the opening edge. The flip-back are complete without damage. All four corners have subtle softening. The top, bottom and opening edges along with the spine are without any wear.
Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT +
The original inner sleeve is in great condition. It is very clean, without any staining and with minimal creasing. The vinyl is housed inside an audiophile quality, anti-static inner sleeve to help protect and preserve the record and inner sleeve.

The record will be sent via an insured courier in a padded vinyl mailer.
