Beatles - 5 Deccagone Colored Vinyl 45s w/Pic Sleeves

 The Beatles

The Deccagone Singles

The Deccagone Singles refers to a set of seven colored vinyl 45s of material from the Beatles now famous and ill-fated Decca audition of January 1, 1962, when John, Paul, George and Pete performed 15 songs for Decca producer Tony Meehan. The tape of that audition had remained unheard until 1977, when Joe Pope, publisher of the Beatles fanzine Strawberry Fields Forever, obtained a copy. Joe Pope used this tape to produce seven 45 rpm singles, pressed on colored vinyl on the Deccagone label. (One track from the audition, “Take Good Care Of My Baby,” was left out of the set.)  The Deccagone Singles were sold through Pope’s fanzine, starting with “Three Cool Cats” b/w “Hello Little Girl”. This was the first time the public was able to hear the songs from that ill-fated audition. Until then, the tape had been shrouded in mystery, and no one had known exactly which songs had been performed.
