THE MIKE READ COLLECTION

Ashwells Nationwide is the sole appointed agent responsible for the interim holding and subsequent sale of ‘The Mike Read Collection’. We can confirm the item for sale within this listing forms part of his famed vinyl record portfolio.

The collection boasts thousands of items compiled over many years by the legendary DJ and broadcaster Mike Read. Following the live auction held at a London auction house in November of last year where his numerous music publications, bulk lots of vinyl and ephemera were sold, we then commenced auctions for the collectable vinyl and much publicised gems from his collection through Ebay. The auctions will continue to run over the coming weeks bringing you many more fantastic items from the vast array of genres represented in this famed collection such as rare punk classics, many acetates, test pressings and promos, Tamla Motown Demos plus many LP’s and EP’s. In addition we will be auctioning many other items from the wider collection such as Limited edition pop art prints and an original by David Oxtoby, an original piece of poster art from the renowned West Country artist John Gutteridge Sykes which was commissioned by Great Western Railway, a large collection of autographs from legends such as David Bowie, The Beach Boys, Sir Cliff Richard and a picture collection capturing a vast array of stars at work, rest and play.

CONDITION GRADINGS

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
