Another from my personal collection. This album has been stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover for protection for over 35 years, which has obviously preserved this fragile cover for all of these years!!  This is the earliest original 1st UK pressing, beleive me one of the hardest to ever find in this condition.This features the 'Large Vertigo logo on the labels (only found on the 1st issues) and features #1 matrix endings on both sides (only 1st UK press) complete with the original vertigo record sleeve and original unlaminated gatefold cover (only 1st UK press) in spectacular condition throughout!! Visually the vinyl is near mint there is absolutely (no) audio sounding marks or scratches! The audio is as good as it gets on my systems cristal clear and very vibrant graded as near mint only heard like this on the earliest pressings, can not be surpassed by later press or indeed in any other format in my personal opinion!! Unbeleivably rare to find!!! 

Black Sabbath are an English heavy metal band from Birmingham. The original band line up of Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Terence "Geezer" Butler (bass), and Bill Ward (drums) is the same as the current line up (2007) although there have been many shifts of personnel over the years.

Black Sabbath remain a dominant influence in the heavy metal genre!!

Paranoid is the influential and iconic second album by British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, and contains some of their most famous work, including the songs "Iron Man", "War Pigs", and the title track "Paranoid."

Released September 18, 1970 in the UK, only seven months after the band's debut, Paranoid is Black Sabbath's only UK #1 album, displacing Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water for one week!!.

Paranoid peaked at number 12 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart (North America). The singles "Paranoid" and "Iron Man" peaked at number 61 and number 52, respectively, on the Pop singles chart. "Paranoid" as a single went to number 4 in the UK. In 2003, the album was ranked number 130 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time!.

The original UK vinyl release was in a gatefold sleeve, with the generic Vertigo 'swirl' inner bag. The inner of the gatefold had a b/w photo of the band, posed outdoors on a grassy hill, being their first appearance on album artwork. To spread the original picture over the gatefold, Osbourne was separated from the other members of the band and a section of the grass was copied and dropped into the gap. This is only readily apparent when one sees that original promo photo, whereupon it is then easy to spot the added grass on the LP!!.

The album was originally titled "War Pigs" but it is said that the record company changed it to "Paranoid" because of sensitivity about the Vietnam War. However, the band's visual interpretation of a "War Pig" was still featured on the cover. Nonetheless, the album's title and its picture of man with a sword jumping out from behind a tree meshed well together and the cover is now considered a classic album cover!!.

The labels.

The original VERTIGO labels are in awesome condition!!! features the swirl on side a. and the large swirl logo and track listings on side b.(only early press)!!!!! All rights.... are featured around the label rim(only early press)!!!!!!!  Any spidering is very minimal and can just barely be seen angled to the light only, it is obvious that this vinyl has barely ever been played, little if (no) spindle ware   This has only ever been played a few times only from new when i initially purchased it!!! so rare  for an album that is 37 years old!!!!! very very collectable indeed!!!!

The vinyl.

The vinyl is absolutely superbe on initial visual inspection this looks like new and still retains its sheen from new!!!!!! (please note this vinyl has only ever been  played by me personally and indeed hardly ever played at all in the last 25 years this has been stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover to prevent ringware and damage!!     This is how i have always stored my records!! I have played this through track for track prior to listing on a top system and the audio quality is superbe TOP TOP TOP!cristal clear and extreemely vibrant!!!!(no) signs of any distortion or grooveware at all!!!!! (In strong light there is (no) needle scratches audio sounding at least i couldn't see any even in extreeme light, at least (none) that effect the audio at all!!! Any marks that could possibly be seen would have been caused by the vinyl been slid in and out of its sleeve!!!

Please note! this vinyl has been stored seperately from the cover in a poly sleeve for all of its storage life!!! This is the way I always  have stores my records!!!! The audio on this pressing in my opinion is as good as it gets for a very early and the 1st pressing!!!!!   Even in between tracks there is extreemely minimal noise!!! This almost plays as new!!!  This is the best audio that i have heard of this pressing!! AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!! I would class myself as highly critical and this is a truly exceptional sounding vinyl and the 2ND EVER ALBUM RELEASED  by this awesome band ''black sabbath'' and so hard to find the earliest 1st pressing like this!!!!!!!! Please check my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!

Please note! I always make this disclaimer! That although I never heard any clicks or pops during the play of this record please allow for the odd static tick here and there certainly (not )consistant throughout the audio, please remember  that this is a genuine 37 year old vinyl that would have been played on a 37 year old system!!!!!

THIS PLAYS IN MY OPINION LIKE NEW!!!!!! (NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE FROM THIS VINYL OR INDEED THIS ALBUM!!!!

This is the original 1st press Vertigio gatefold  (Unlaminated) cover RARELY EVER SEEN IN THIS  TOP  CONDITION!! Absolutely awesome this shows very (very) minimal storage ware\marks\idents  WORTH MENTIONING  only the very lightest scuff\scratch marks on the rear of the cover can be seen if looked for iangled in the light but very superficial!!!!Amaizingly (no) real creases at the front at all and again only at the rear are some small creases that you would have to look for to notice and barely any real noticable ringware unless scrutinised(see photo) superbe condition of this 1st pressing cover which is nearly 37 years old!!!!!!!! (no) splits (no) tares (no) nasty hand writing!!!All writing is fully readable on the spine which is in exceptional condition very straight and suffers from no flattening with age! IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND LIKE THIS!!!!! This also is one of the best covers that i have seen of this pressing truly awesome(see photo) This cover must grade at least excellent plus in my opinion! NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE FROM THIS!!!!!!

The record sleeve.

This is the original vertigo poly lined sleeve (no) splits or tares just light staining with age!! There are two very small tares around  the die cut hole on one side only noticeable if looked for!  superbe condition !!!! and original !!!! PLEASE NOTE! THE VINYL IS ALWAYS STORED SEPERATELY FROM THE ORIGINAL SLEEVE.!!!!! 

THIS IN MY OPINION IS ONE OF THE HARDEST BLACK SABBATH 1ST PRESSINGS TO FIND!!! TRY TO FIND BETTER!!!!
