Description
BILLY WOODS (45) - "That Was the Love That Was" b/w "Let Me Make You Happy" (Sussex 213) in VG+ to VG++ condition.
Description/Condition:
Here's one of the rarest NORTHERN SOUL 45s from the 70s - Billy Woods' "Let Me Make You Happy" (HEAR actual 45) b/w "That Was the Love That Was" (HEAR actual 45).
I found this record in a box of exclusively BUDDAH label related 45s that I uncovered while cleaning out one of my record stores' storage areas. There were hundreds of records on the Sussex, Buddah, Kama Sutra, Cobblestone and Smobro labels, 95% of which were promos and none of which appeared to have been used. They probably were from a label rep who retired in Virginia Beach, Va. I recall winning them at an auction there years ago and simply must have forgotten about them.
This record is in beautiful VG+ ('a' side') to VG++ ('b' side) condition, with the important 'b' side being the cleanest. It appears to be unused, but does have a few very light sleeve scuffs. It is not warped, but the outer edge does rise ever so slightly (almost inperceptibly) with each rotation. The record looks and plays great - listen to those sound bites! It's a "DJ" copy that is clearly marked "NOT FOR SALE", and has bright, clean, centered labels. It comes with the original Buddah label inner sleeve. There will be a very REASONABLE RESERVE set for this auction that fairly reflects the value of this scarce, in demand 45. Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
VERY IMPORTANT CONDITIONS FOR THIS AUCTION:
PAYMENT for this item must be made by CASHIERS CHECK, CERTIFIED CHECK or BANK TRANSFER in American dollars only. Sorry, but because of the value of this record and the potential for fraudulent PAYPAL or Credit Card "chargebacks" - I've experienced several already - I WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING PAYPAL or CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS FOR THIS ITEM.
If at all possible, it would be to the buyer's advantage to pick up this record in person. I live close to all NY City airports and am only a 30 minute train ride from the city itself. Also, I will be attending the Allentown, PA 45 RPM Record Convention in September and could deliver the record there.
I mention the above alternatives because, should this item be shipped, INSURANCE, TRACKING and SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION will be required for this purchase, which will also require full disclosure of actual value on customs froms, etc. There is no way around this, and DUTY fees could be substantial. Shipping arrangements will be made with the winning bidder to best meet their needs and ensure that the package arrives safely.
- Thanks for bidding and GOOD LUCK!
PLEASE NOTE:
I neglected to mention that this item must be paid for within 10 days of the auction close date. This should allow ample time for funds to be secured and exchanged.
Also, I will be attending the 2nd Saturday Record Show in Wayne, NJ on 07/14 and the 3rd Saturday Record Show in New York City on 07/21, so pick-up could be arranged for these dates as well.
Also, I will pay for the first $50.00 in postage for this item, which should be enough to cover complete insurance and tracking.
