DESCRIPTION
Conte Candoli (Leader) - “Cool Gabriels” Groove Records LG-1003 (Mono) from 1956. Great Cool Jazz Album from Leader Candoli on an Original 1S/1S Pressing! The band features Nick Travis, Don Stratton, Bernie Glow, Elliot Lawrence, Burgher Jones, Sol Gubin, Phil Sunkel, Al De Risi and Dick Sherman. A fine album intended to show off the Trumpet it is now known mostly for it’s early Andy Warhol Cover Art in his “Blotted Line” style.

CONDITION

The Sleeve shows a bit of basic ring wear, perhaps really more like ring dirt which might even be cleaned off if you know what you are doing but I leave that up to you. In any case, nothing that detracts from the art in any way as I think that the pics show. The top seam is split about 4”. There is what at first looks like a very slight crease in the lower left but it is actually just a slight paste-up error. Some very minor corner softening. There are a couple of what appear to be dirty fingerprints on the back, again, maybe could be cleaned? I would rate it as at least a good VG+, I actually think it is probably closer to EX (or VG++ if you prefer) but since this is a high ticket item and the cover is the main attraction, I would rather be conservative. The Vinyl itself is in great Glossy condition looking like it was probably only played a couple times. There is one tiny little scuff and if you really look closely you might spot a random sleeve scuffs or two but overall in very close to New condition. Again, to be on the safe side I’m saying EX but maybe closer to Near Mint. The labels show a couple spindle trails and there is an old price sticker on Side 2 - should be easlily removeable - but are otherwise Near Mint.

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
