ARTURO TOSCANINI
REHEARSAL TEMPER TANTRUMNovember 26, 1953 10" 78rpm acetate
Italian conductor Arturo Toscanini (1867-1957) was almost as well-known for his fiery temper as he was for his music. This November 26, 1953 audio tirade during a rehearsal with the NBC Symphony Orchestra of "Dance of the Water Nymphs" from Alfredo Catalani's opera "Loreley" gives an indication how he acquired his tyrannical reputation.
CONDITION: VG+ (plays approx. 2 & 1/2 minutes)
The clip below is is a little less then 1/2 of the acetate I have for sale. The other 1/2 is equally as good. Or at least Arturo is acting equally as bad. It also includes the reaction of the musicians when Arturo storms out. Apparently the clip below was taken off a Kermit Schaffer blooper record so obviously this acetate became rather well known. I got it from the Estate Sale of an L.A. (Pacific Palisades) classical music fan who also had a number of autographed records by well known Classical artists.

100% ACCURACY IN GRADING RECORDS IS A JOB FOR SUPERMAN!
At times defects will show up differently on different players. For instance,
depending on the weight that a tone arm is set at or the quality of the stylus
what is just a pop on one player can sometimes be a skip on another
SO IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, BEFORE RATING ME ,
Because although I may not be Superman, I'm certainly not Lex Luther.
