Description

Fantastic Dee-Jays--Fantastic Dee-Jays--Stone 4003.  Original copy of this very obscure album by this great McKeesport three-piece that would eventually evolve into the legendary Swamp Rats.  Old-style heavy vinyl pressing is VG.  Record still retains high gloss and the scratches are light.  Labels have light wear and a small tear at the spindle hole on the A-side.  Cover is VG.  The paper and cardboard stock used for this cover were of inferior quality, so cover was prone to wear, but this one has survived fairly well.  There are corner creases to the uppere left and lower right of the front cover.  There is light ringwear (primarily to the top and bottom centers) of the front and more noticeable wear to the rear slick.  The spine and seams show wear, but are tight and intact for the most part.  At the cover's pocket, the top seam is exposed and split 1/2"; the same is true for the bottom right, but with a little less wear and a bit shorter split.  For those unaware, the vast majority of these albums were destroyed in the early 70s.  The unsold inventory was sold at the National Record Mart in Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh and Matt's Surplus on Liberty Avenue.  Matt's had two stacks of them stacked on the floor, stacked as tall as myself (over 6 feet).  National Record Mart had them originally for $1.00 per copy, later two for a dollar, and eventually 25 cents each.  Neither outlet had much success selling the albums; there was essentially little or no interest in the record, except to people like myself (and our numbers were small back then!).  NRM threw their inventory in the dumpsters (hundreds of copies) after about a year and Matt's burnt down.  So the bulk of the copies were destroyed..  Also, none of the copies of this album sold at these two outlets were shrinkwrapped.  I believe that most copies were sold at dances and that very few were sold through record shops, so there may have been some that were indeed shrinkwrapped, but I'm skeptical and I've never seen or heard of any.  Soundclips will be included.  Shipping and insurance for this album will be $10.00 in the U.S. and $20.00 overseas.  Please wait for our invoice.  We combine postage for items listed over a 10-day to two-week span.  If you are bidding on several items and win, please disregard the automatically-generated eBay invoices and we'll invoice you for combined postage.  As the holidays are rapidly approaching, we try to extend a little leeway with the transactions and offer our customers the choice to delay payment on this item and those listed through the remainder of December until January 10, if they wish.
