Description

There maybe a nicer original 1st press Stereo cover example from January 1967 of this Texas psych rarity on planet Earth, but I have not seen it. I am from Texas so the Elevators hold a special historical musical significance of Texas' contribution to the psychedelia era.
Here is an Insanely RARE original 1st Stereo pressing of The 13th Floor Elevators ~ Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators~ still in original shrink on the Legendary International Artists independent record label.
International Artists (also: IA; formally: International Artist Producing Corp.) was an independent record label, founded in 1965, and based in Houston, Texas. The label was run by Lelan Rogers, the oldest brother of country music star Kenny Rogers. The label has a legendary status today for its roster of well-known Texas psychedelic rock bands, including The 13th Floor Elevators, The Red Crayola and Bubble Puppy, and other, lesser known artists in the psychedelic or garage rock genres, such as The Golden Dawn, Lost And Found and Endle St. Cloud.
International Artists was one of the earliest and most influential underground/psychedelic labels of the 1960s. During its four years of activity, the label released twelve albums, four of which were by its flagship act, The 13th Floor Elevators

Barcode and Other Identifiers

Notes

  • This version has 4 panels of text on the back cover.

Also released in mono with the same catalog number. First catalog number on label, second on back cover.
Credits differ slightly between the cover and the label: these are taken from the cover.

Engineered at Summit Sound Studio, Dallas, Texas
All tunes in this L.P. Published by: TAPIER MUSIC CORP. B.M.I., Houston, Texas

PRINTING BY TANNER 'N' TEXAS, INC. - 1422 WEST POPLAR STREET - SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS 78207

In the runout etching on side B appears a crossed-out character after the ''A''.

Sleeve: VG++  Completely clean, bright colors, thick cardboard, tight corners, no ringwear, front is covered in complete shrink. Some of the shrink is missing in the back and disconnected on the bottom right corner. If removed from shrink would be an excellent copy.
Vinyl: Visually Solid VG  Great luster, some hairlines and a few deeper light scratches on both sides. Want to try to be conservative in grading as this is an expensive item. Plays VG+ with some surface noise and occasional popping.
A nice collectible copy of this Texas Psych Rarity
