·       VARIOUS ELEKTRA PSYCHEDELIC AND FOLK ARTISTS [ – GARDEN OF DELIGHTS – ORIGINAL AMERICAN PRESSING  (NOTE: THIS ALBUM WAS NEVER RELEASED COMMERCIALLY IN THE UNITED STATES, ONLY AS A 3-LP MAIL ORDER-ONLY SAMPLER; However, a double album WAS commercially released in UK and Japan, but in a significantly changed form: while the US mail order album was a 3-LP set (triple album), the UK album was a 2-LP set (double album) and, unlike the American counterpart, British version WAS commercially available and could be bought at retail outlets.  Needless to say, the American release offers much more content than the British version.  Interestingly enough,  large quantities of British pressings were imported for sale in the United States, resulting in a very awkward situation:  the imported copies became more common than the indigenous American releases (similar situation would not be repeated until the release of The Beatles at the BBC in 1994)

·       ORIGINAL, THIN SLIPCASE-TYPE COVER  [BUYER BEWARE: THE COVER HAS ONE OF THE MORE IDIOTIC CONSTRUCTIONS I HAVE SEEN IN MY LIFETIME , WRAPPING AROUND THE THREE RECORDS LIKE A SASH, AND LEAVING HUGE HOLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SET, THUS ALLOWING THE DISCS TO FALL OUT AND BE DAMAGED IF NOT PROPERLY HANDLED. This compilation may have been for Radio Station use since it boasts copious liner notes which were a DJ's dream but it was certainly available, in various formats, by mail order. Jac and Keith Holzman put it together, ostensibly to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the first sampler LP: Elektra's 'A Folk Music Sampler' of 1954.

(NOTE: tracks marked in RED are those found on the American release [the one we have here]; while tracks marked in BLACK are those found on the British 2-LP set. As you can see, the musical content of the two sets is massively different. The American release is remarkable for the inclusion of the Beefeaters' (The Byrds' original name) first (and only for Elektra) single ["Please Let Me Love You"], which hasn't seen the light of day in any manner, way or form - except on this compilation - for nearly 40 years, between 1964 and 2001.

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new (SIDE 3 IS ABOUT VERY GOOD++ [VG++]

(b)          The records come in their original stock inner sleeves

(c)           The records ALSO come in their , custom, color-coded inner sleeves (containing annotation and liner notes), which are UNIQUE to this album (each disc comes in two inner sleeves)

(d)          The records are  apparently  pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

COVER (SLIPCASE) IS NEAR MINT

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Minor shelf wear noted on the top and bottom seams (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No ring wear

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No wrinkles or creases

-        No yellowing from aging

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.
