Description
Miles Davis "Kind of Blue"
Columbia CS-8163: red and black deepgroove 6-eye stereo label, matrix numbers XSM47326-1AH / XSM47327-1AJ. I don't have to hype this LP. From the first pulses of "So What" to the last flavors of "Flamenco Sketches" that anticipate "Sketches of Spain", it's one of a kind (of blue). All legends, all the time: Miles Davis (t), Cannonball Adderley (as), John Coltrane (ts), Bill Evans or Wynton Kelly (p), Paul Chambers (b), Jimmy Cobb (d).
Cover is 6 (clean front with minor wear, minor wear upper corners; original owner--one Arthur C. Gordon of Saugus,MA--went overboard with his small stamp, using it 11 times on back, the primary defect and the reason the cover isn’t a strong 7 / soft 8. What was he thinking?).
Vinyl is 8 (a few non-feelable hairlines each side).
Here's what the numerical ratings mean:
10 = Perfect. Period.
9 = If I told you it's a week old, you'd believe me: an insignificant surface mark or two, or a bumped corner on the cover.
8 = Very sharp: the cover might show light wear or aging, but the seams are tight, the corners sharp, the surface clean; the vinyl has some marks but no significant noise.
7 = Above average quality for the vintage: surface wear on the cover is more pronounced, or some flaking on the seams, or corner-rubs, or small writing--but not more than one or two of these flaws; the vinyl has a few more non-feelable marks.
6 = An average record for its age: the cover's flaws are more noticeable, or there are more of them; the vinyl will play with some noise and perhaps a 3 or 4-rev tick here or there.
5 = I don't sell anything below a 6.
