Description

THE OBJECT

The centrepiece of any Led Zep collection!

Only 1000 of these 11.75" ceramic sculptures were produced in 1976 to promote the release of Led Zeppelin's "Presence" album.

#166 of 1000

The last one on www.itsonlyrocknroll.com sold for nearly $900

Getting very hard to find now, like pretty much all originals this one does have a few very minor scuffs, but nothing dreadful. I will miss this item VERY MUCH!

Please allow the photos a moment to load.

On 30-Sep-06 at 16:18:49 BST, seller added the following information:

In answer to the questions of authenticity, I bought this in a collection of stuff from a record shop in London which was sent it at the time, so it has had two owners including me, as far as I know. Looking at the other OBJECT currently being sold as genuine, mine appears identical. The recent OBJECT sold as a replica on eBay has a glossy finish which mine doesn't have, mine is a" matt" finish. In e-mail, this was described as a "flat" finish. (Does "flat" mean the opposite of glossy in America, where we would say "matt" in the UK?)

N B IMPORTANT
No, it doesn't have the Alva Museum sticker. In fact, THERE ARE BRUSHSTROKES ON THE BASE indicting this has been touched up! Not visible when on display.  SEE PHOTO

The replicas are described as having a bulging top, whereas the originals are flat, again see photo. Again, I am certain that mine is an original, as the top of the replica in the picture appeared to be more pronounced.

Where the paint has chipped it is white underneath, not flesh.  It is frustrating that in the photos, tiny dots of white appear much larger, as the light seems to expand on camera. In reality, yes, there are spots of paint out, but this is a nice piece, and any Zep fan would be very pleased with it!
